> Are the Mega Bloks ONI REAP-X vehicles canon?
> –M0aHerder
> The REAP-X program itself is part of the Halo canon, but the “shape” of the Mega Bloks universe allows us some latitude in design and variance. All of the vehicles are being designed in collaboration with 343 Industries and you will see these new ONI and UNSC vehicles (or variants of existing vehicles) coming to stores this fall.

Unfortunately, this isn’t confirmation of the Siege Bike or the VTOL. Still nice to have confirmation that the program itself is canon.
I found it interesting that Frankie made the distinction between ONI vehicles and UNSC vehicles. All things being considered, I don’t find it too crazy to think that ONI might be a villain in upcoming games (they practically already are anyway), so they could be drawing a distinction between ONI technology and UNSC technology as if to suggest they’re two distinct factions.
Best case scenario, if Chief has to fight ONI, some of this REAP-X technology could appear in-game.

Plus, the whole slight alteration of current vehicles could suggest this even further. ONI had their own Warthogs, Scorpions, Pelicans, etc. Sounds to me like they’re pretty equal to the UNSC.
> To me this just confirms even more that ONI is humanity’s builder rate.
If Builder rate correlates to a collection of brain-less goons creating tactically inept and dangerous-for-the-user vehicles, then yes. ONI is a lobotomized version of the Builder caste.
Not only are these vehicles completely inept when it comes to basic design, they are under armed, serve little to no actual purpose beside’s making SPARTANS DO MANLY THINGS, and are more a threat to their user than they are to the actual enemy.

…Exactly like the first Halos. They didn’t fire omnidirectionally, they put a halt to intra-galactic travels because of their Quantum Leap reconciliation muck-ups, and did more damage to Forerunners than Flood. The successor breed of Halos over-compensated, and when a Forerunner used them, the galaxy died. But when a Spartan used the Array, he showed them how it’s done, Mantle-style.
On a serious note, I think ONI is more paranoid than brainless, and they’ve been on a self-destructive streak for some time now. Too bad that destruction encompasses all humanity.
If they do make for a prominent place in the new trilogy, I hope we get to see the PWNR (w=omega, of course) again, assuming it survived the war. Colonel Anderson wasn’t ever keen on leaving her though, so it may have been destroyed in the Mars theatre. Here’s hoping the Point Wf No Return did not, indeed go belly up!

Seriously? If you’re going to diss these MB vehicles for impracticality, go take a good long look at a CE Warthog.
TBH although I do think ONI will make an appearance, it’s more likely we’ll continue fighting the Prometheans. The Didact did survive you know, and there are still the Isodidact and Chant-to-Green alive (although where they are I have no clue). Chakas (343 Guilty Spark) might return to play a pivotal role (I always liked 343 for some reason.) Something also tells me the forerunners in the greater magellanic cloud may also play a part, if Halo didn’t kill them as well.
I have a feeling the flood will return, the Forerunner Trilogy keeps hinting at it, and I fear it will be in a much more devastating form than we saw in the first few games. Likely infused with precursor tech if it does.
The lines between political UNSC issues and repeating history, the madness and mystery of Ur-Didact, and the disappearance of the IsoDidact and other Lifeworkers will come together soon as the Primordial’s Promise is fulfilled.
The Ur-Didact represents the madness and corruption of the Flood, the misery and suffering.
ONI’s interaction with the post-war galaxy represents Humanity repeating the Forerunners’ history with the power-greedy Builders. ONI represents where Humanity is supposed to succeed where the Forerunners failed, a group like ONI stands in the way of Humanity successfully taking the Mantle.
Then we have the mystery of the Librarian’s actions, Halsey, the Covenant… all causing chaos and misery for the upcoming Unity by the Flood.

The Warthog is just as bad as these brainless contraptions of death. Its driver and crew can easily be taken out by small arms fire, it has minimal to no armor, no protection for the gunner, and for some reason uses Carbon Nanotubes for tires instead of using them for the general hull and armor of the actual vehicle.
UNSC: Insane building priorities. We make CNT tires but not CNT armor! Suck it infantry, ya’ll can go eat plasma while the tires are firmly indestructible.

I would be happy with jet-nozzles, too. 8P
“Magic” means you don’t understand it.
So …
hm… supermagnetic leans, gravity wells, roomwarping bubbles, quantum dislocations, micro-slipstream-effects, partial-time-splays, anti-room contortions, m/n-axis-drifts, end-chronoporter-overload-singularity-coils, niala´-effects, myra´ra´n´-“originator” … etc. etc. pp. … … or even a front wheel under the track that can change its own angle.
… but … wait: this still doesn’t answers my question. XD

Jet Nozzles would cause that death trap to spin like a cheap firework and if the UNSC had any of the above mentioned technologies, the Covenant would have been stomped harder than Egypt during the seven days war.

> The same way modern prototypes with only one track do, the whole bike literally bends.
And you then have an inherent structural weakness along with difficult repairs and an even lower maneuverability ratio due to the fact you are imparting all of your momentum and kinetic energy into a certain location with a system not designed to do as such; wheels are simply better. They allow you to maintain a significant portion of your momentum, vector and kinetic energy when maneuvering whilst allowing a diverse range of trans-terrain transport capability at a greater speed. Not to mention that it’s harder to mobility kill something with four wheels, even if it’s driving on a rim.
