What exactly did ONI do in Halo 5?

Other than being loosely connected by the fact that Chief was the product of an ONI project(which is honestly reaching for something if you ask me)? Nothing.
The Office of Naval Intelligence doesn’t really have a hand in anything that happened on Installation 04, so I don’t think the OP knows what they’re on about.

Come to think of it, the Office of Naval Intelligence never really came into play in the games until ODST…

EDIT: Misread that. ONI is sorta involved in that they’re partially responsible for Fireteam Osiris’ mission… otherwise, can’t think of anything.

Maybe OP is sick of getting crushed by ONI vehicles in warzone and wants to go back to a time when the only vehicles were the standard hog, scorpion, ghost and banshee.

Chief being part of a secret ONI black ops project? Ludicrous, I tell you! Section Three would never do something as, as morally dubious as kidnap children, replace them with flash clones, and train them to fight the Insurrection!

The only ONI that has been giving me problems are the clans who role-play as them.

ONI wasnt even mentioned in-game until ODST, except for like, ONE single tiny line in Halo 3. ONI Recon 1-11 I think… Before that it was book only.
I still remember the “WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?!” reaction from people who hadn’t read the books trying to figure out what the HELL ONI was.

Dude that rhymed but fully noticed

ONI is responsible for Naval intelligence. No military force anywhere does not have an intelligence branch. Part of this is that they do bad -Yoink- in the dark. This is normal. Not having ONI in its current form would be less normal.

Well, ONI did invest a lot of their time in the Spartan II program, I doubt we will see less of them anytime soon.
