I don’t want to hear all this “AR+Pistol” balance crap. I could mow you down with the pistol across the map since Reach was introduced.
It’s obvious that many people are fine with the current set-up, mainly casual players. However, people who have played at higher levels know that AR starts are a joke. Competitive play can’t be taken seriously at this point. I would like to see one H3/H4 50 or H5 Champion/Onyx/Diamond who is fine with this set-up. Why can’t 343 satisfy the needs of all of its players? I wonder what the pros have to say about this.
Also, why not bring back unranked? I bet nearly everyone on this forum has used social playlists to play with a friend from work or school. Why? Because that person sucks a%# and you didn’t want to lose your rank, want your friend to get destroyed, or just play for fun. While guess what? Not anymore, everything is ranked so goodbye friends, I’m not playing with you anymore. Every game is going to be super-try-hard. Also, I can’t play with my old school H3 friends because they’re champions already and I’m not as good anymore. FML

I am amused from this incessant series of requests for BR starts. Arena has Pistol starts with BRs & DMRs all over the place, while Warzone goes totally BR after a few minutes.

There isn’t even a point to BRs/DMRs on arena maps due to the ARs range and time to kill and all the maps catering to that. As much as using an AR is fun I rather would play a match where we have to stay on target through multiple bursts than spraying my feet and killing me without any effort like this is call of duty spray and pray. Include this with a radar that shows people within beat down range only and you have useless precision weapons.

Oh look, another guy who probably loves the huge stalemate that was BR’s on lockout. It’s over, get used to it
What you fail to realize OP is that the Pistol has BECOME what the BR use to be in previous games. The BR itself has become what the DMR use to be in previous games.
The reason BR isn’t a starting weapon in competition is because it’s much easier to connect with across map due to the registration. The Pistol has less aim assist, making it more interesting in an arena type setting. Just because the weapon is a staple of Halo doesn’t mean it deserves to be the most competitive in this specific game.
You’re basically the guy trying to get 343 to give people DMR and Light Rifle starts in competitive H4 instead of BR…
A true competitive player just gets on with the job and smashes up with the tools at his disposal!
AR starts can be competitive simply because of the magnum.
Everyone is on an equal footing, therefore may the most skillful win!

Ive seen this topic come up a lot i personaly made a post about it.
I agree with the non ranked playlist, i come home after work and want a causal but fun game were you still obivously try to win but its not to frustrating or upseting if you lose(going down in rank).
I’m looking at your stats and I’m having a really hard time trying to figure out why you consider yourself a pro. With all that bragging you did in your post, I was expecting much better stats. Just kidding, I was expecting exactly what I saw xD

from a competitive standpoint. Pistol is the best route. what needs to happen is a playlist with no radar. I wouldnt mind playing some random 4’s and see how the obj with no radar plays with decent players. Since my return to gaming i’ve just played solo matchmaking.

Havent you already got a pistol to satisfy sweaty teams? All this talk about how Br is for competitive players is weird. If your scared of individually going up agaainst players and need a team backing you up with pistols and br’s then sure. Long range precision weapons need to be pickups because balancing teams based on teamwork with the starting weapon pistol, is impossible.
