So obviously there’s lots of speculation on the trailer based on how it was set up, but one thing that bothers me is that I keep seeing people say the partially destroyed Halo ring in the trailer is Alpha halo. Obviously this is not true/ impossible for a number of reasons, with the biggest one being the fact that alpha halo was split in half, not jusf partially damaged like we see in the trailer. The ring is more than likely Zeta Halo considering the morse from the last trailer. It’s honestly hard for me to understand how someone can think that it was alpha halo in the trailer.
Either way, I’m not sure we have anything counting as solid confirmation on which halo ring we are seeing. Lots of speculations, especially from the trailer last year.
We know Anders is on the new, new Alpha Halo in 2559, because of Halo Wars 2. But the ring in the trailer could be the original Alpha Halo, as if you look in the distance, it is broken on the other side of the ring. Or it could be Zeta Halo, and it also split in two. There could be multiple Halos involved in the story.
Multiple possibilities, we shall find out soon enough…
Its been rumored to be Zeta Halo for quite a bit now. I saw article that pointed how that one of the monitors on the pelican right before the pilot sees chief says “Local Ref Zeta”.

The ring in the trailer is definitely broken in two separate sections but that might not necessarily mean it’s Alpha Halo. Anything could’ve happened in the three years between 5 and this trailer.
This game takes place what? A year or more after the events of Halo 5? There’s obviously been a major conflict that happened in between the end of Halo 5 and the start of Infinite that will explain the damage to Zeta Halo.
Dont be surprised if many plot threads introduced in Halo 4 and 5 were resolved/dealt with in this time skip. This is a reboot after all, and 343 is likely dropping many things introduced in those games for the sake of starting something new.
I honestly hope that’s the case to be honest.
Don’t be too fast to dismiss the idea of it being halo alpha seeing that it is split on both sides and tbh it would be cool to go back to halo alpha
I just hope this Halo ring has flood hiding on it

Check the ending of Halo CE, then the opening cut-scene of Halo 2. After that you should check the Halo Infinite E3 trailer where they show the damaged Halo ring.
Unless i343 pulls a massive retcon on the damage done to the original Halo, after there being not one, but two replacement rings, created by Installation 00 for Installation 04. I do not see there being any chances of that ring being the original Alpha Halo.
Installation 04 did appear to be blown apart at the end of Combat Evolved, and it’s debris did fly onto Basis (moon of Threshold), but in Halo 2’s opening cutscene we see that parts of the ring are still in a ring formation albeit separated. However, that cutscene shows a charred ring and being entirely disconnected (unlike the Infinite trailer where it’s still connected by some kind of energy and still has life), so I think that most likely, unless 343 took artistic and storytelling liberties, it’s not Installation 04.
'aight, time to clear some things up…
The ring in Infinite’s opening is NOT the Alpha Halo seen in Bungie’s games. Installation 04 was destroyed in CE, and retconning that would be far too damaging to the story of everything after, not just certain points (the story wouldn’t make nearly as much sense).
It’s also NOT the replacement ring in Halo 3 (Installation 04B or Installation 08). That one was also destroyed because it fired when it was incomplete.
HOWEVER, it CAN be Installation 04C (Installation 09), due to Halo Wars 2’s ending.
BUT, both trailers for Infinite highly suggest to be Zeta Halo.
- The writing in the cave is not Sangheili or even Forerunner, which makes it highly probable that it was the job of an Ancient Human, which would make a lot of sense for those who’ve read Primordium (it details many different races of Humanity all gathered in Zeta Halo, when it was still part of the original “Greater Array”); - The radio somewhere in the Announcement trailer was decodified with something along the lines of “ZETA HALO”; - The screens aboard the Pelican in the second trailer suggested the ring to be Zeta Halo. - I thoughtfully believe that Zeta Halo has the richest biodiversity, along with the beautiful landscapes seen in the Announcement.Zeta Halo is the most mysterious ring with also the most lore. It’s a great opportunity to expand it even further to know what kind of experiments were conducted in the Palace of Pain and how horrible they were.
