One thing that disappoints me (visual zones)

Alright, I nearly fainted when I saw Tom French walk into that hill and the visuals changed to an underwater look.

That really made the balls in my pants jingle of joy! This actually is similar to what I wanted for Halo 4’s Forge back in the day, lol. Quite similar. Only, in my version I wanted the visual changes to be present while not standing in the hillzone yourself.

That’s what sucks! It seems like you’ll only see the visual changes while you’re in the hill. I was looking forward to underwater maps where people placed buildings with zones in the so they’d be clear inside. But then, if the building has windows, you won’t be able to see the water visuals anymore since you’re in a hill that has water off or something.

At least, I assume we’ll have different options for those hills?

I mean… Wouldn’t it have been awesome if let’s say you had a rain or snow map, and you placed rain and snow hills outside only so that it would not rain/snow indoors?!

But that’s not how this works I think. If you have 4 hills placed and you’re outside of them all, then you won’t see the visuals.

I hope that will change later, with more options! Imagine placing hills where parts of the map are snow and snowing while other are lava rocks or lave rivers for example.

So, to make it clear.

  • I don’t think we’ll be able to see the visuals of a zone without being inside its radius.

  • It would be awesome to give these zones more options than just water visuals. What about making it snow on specific places and not on the whole map or indoors?

  • It’d be great to see the visuals of each zone without having to be inside them. Also, that would mean you could place half of an object in the zone and see its texture change. For example, you place a snow tree halfway in a zone with a jungle theme and see the tree change. Then you’d have a 50% jungle and 50% snowy tree!

That is all. Other than that I am super stoked for this new update!

I’m not entirely sure how they’d technically accomplish this. They have the underwater map now though, so maybe there’s a no effects zone so you can make underwater bases that look like it’s clear on the inside, so maybe you can still see water on the outside. We’ll see how it works tomorrow.

I get what you’re saying. Hopefully there will be a way to have them be visual outside of the zone (Perhaps a zone within a zone could remedy this?) But I’m excited to use this to make indoor maps not have rain and snow and stuff.

True. Gonna be puzzling loads!

Makes me wonder… What if you put 3 hills with the same radius in eachother, but different effects. You’d see 3 things at once I think, lol!

That probably will be the case. Should be interesting! I wonder what other visuals there are…

Me too. Hopefully a whole bunch to toy around with!
