One thing I think Halo needs...

As stated in another topic:

A large scale BTB/Objective based game type (or Battlefield: Halo as I know someone’s gonna make the connection or point it out) that involves a large map with Pelicans (or Phantoms if you’re playing Covies), Falcons/Hornets (Personally, I prefer Falcons due to them feeling more like a true-to-form Helicopter/Aerial Vehicle and supplied a much more teamwork/objective based playability, I loved piloting and didn’t give a crap about getting kills as long as my gunners were good and had good aim and could sight in a target fast enough then I was happy knowing we obliterated the enemy team with superior air-dominance.), Warthogs (Combat AND Transport), Scorpions/Grizzly’s, Mongooses* (*Mongeese?), and so on for more team play.

A couple ideas for this would be the simulation of the attack on Earth from the Covenant with players playing both human and Covenant sides, playing in a large sized player teams (A lobby of 120+), fighting it out for control of New Mombasa, or to take down the Player-driven Scarab on the Covenant side.

Or, a personal favorite of mine that I even suggested back in Halo 4’s Forums when it was still just revealed and not even out yet;
A gametype similar to Titan Mode from Battlefield 2142.

On one side you have a UNSC Frigate, on the other a Covenant Frigate of equal size and power. Each team would choose to either spawn in the Frigate for certain aerial vehicles and the chance to drop into the field using SOEIV’s (or ODST Drop Pods for those who don’t know the technical term as well as the Covenant Drop Pods on the Covie side), or choose to spawn in the Outpost below which would be decked out with ground vehicles of all kinds.

Once spawned, each team would fight to take over EMP missile launchers (or just fight over UNSC, or depending on the map; Covie, based artillery/bases) that would target the enemy Frigate when taken over, giving rise to keep more than the opposing team. Once the shielding on the enemy ship is down, it would be a race for a majority, or a good portion, of players to attack that enemy ship by launching themselves up to it from a APC that had drop pod shooting capabilities or (if you wanted to nix that entirely;) fly to the enemy ship via Pelican’s and Falcons/Hornets and get aboard the enemy ships, having to take out certain consoles or generators to get yourself into the engine room to destroy the core of the ship and then have a race to get out before it explodes, all whilst dodging enemy fire and taking on enemies that spawn in this ship to come down and attack you or kill you before you get off, essentially taking one out before they all go.

Personally, I love the arena gameplay as much as the next person but I love me some objective and large team engagements all the more. They make for a much more satisfying game for those who want more simulation or serious Halo play, adding to the fact that Spartans now have Spartan Abilities, I think it would make for interesting gameplay to see that in use on a larger battlefield rather than just an arena.

Thoughts folks? And please, understand this is merely an opinion…don’t go spamming hate and…well…spam.

So if I am interpreting this correctly, you want Invasion on steroids?

I understand but halo is mainly arena based gameplay I mean i like the idea i just don’t think it would be the best course of action to go on. (just my opinion)

Essentially. Loved the hell out of Invasion…just needed more objective formulas rather than cap this, cap this, cap this, take this

Just have a look on unreal tournament assault gametypes (ut99 and ut2004) they did it right! something like this with additional random ai support

And your opinion is valid, though I’m not saying to get rid of the Arena gameplay entirely. Keep it there as that is what made Halo…well…‘Halo’.
I would just like more than just that to play.

Yes.
The Random AI support I’m unsure of though…though seeing someone who is appointed the leader of the match on one side call in a MAC Round, or the leader of the other side call in a glassing blast both from orbit would be interesting (and no folks, I am not talking about killstreaks from CoD…Please look up Battlefield 2142 if you don’t understand as the leaders on each side had the ability to EMP blast area’s to mess with huds and vehicles. They could also drop in vehicles and ammo upon request. Battlefield 4 tried this…and failed…but they tried it at least.)

I just wanna ride a Sabre again. Why only one mission in the WHOLE series?

A scaled-up Invasion mode would be pretty cool.

You could even keep a form of custom loadouts, with each wave giving you access to bigger vehicles and more powerful weapon spawns.

i.e Wave 1: Basic loadouts, Mongoose,

Wave 2: Warthogs, Ghosts, mid-tier power weapons

Wave 3: Scorpions, Wraiths, Banshees etc, top-tier weapons

Honestly, I don’t understand why they didn’t have space battles in multiplayer. They had the set up for it, so why not?

The problem with this is that it feels forced. I would much prefer to keep my weapons and just swap out in an armory on the ship or something with ALL vehicles available in a large Invasion mode.
Invasion was fun, but it didn’t feel like an actual Invasion.

Anything more that 8v8 will be chaos.

While I would probably never play this. Because I’m a competitive Halo junkie. I totally think this would be a cool addition. It’d bring the world alive more I think.

The Halo community is weird. It’s got the competitive eSports side. And the casual (don’t mean that in a derogatory way) fun video game side. The problem is both sides think the other shouldn’t exist.
I think they can both exist inside the Halo community. I personally don’t play Halo just for fun. I wanna play a competitive arena game. I wanna play it like it’s a sport. Others don’t…and that’s cool. But both sides should exist! It’d be sweet!

So far what I’ve seen it needs assanations I have not seen any assanations in the gameplay

War and Big Battles are, in fact, chaos.

The problem is with the eSports side is that they think Halo is just that…an eSport. They purely look at the Multiplayer and how that plays with little care for the story.
Now, I don’t believe myself to be a casual by any means. I have put many hours into ALL versions of Halo, and played it in many different respects. Competitive and Casual alike. I’ve been in Halo Lore Clans, I’ve played with multiple MLG players and competitive players alike inside and outside of that, I have forged ridiculous amounts of creations and am still trying to push for making Machinima content myself, honestly.

But really…a game, regardless of how it seems is really just played and expected to play as the individual expects it to play. And while that is all good and fair and just…power to those who want the game how they want it. However, as someone who has played in all versions of Halo, I expect it exactly as Bungie made it.

For it to be fun and to innovate on it’s prior capabilities. Why that has to limits to Arena Playstyle and eSports style is beyond me; Why can’t we have something for everyone?
Then again, I suppose as a huge lore lover I’m getting that with Nightfall, I would just prefer some more life to my game. More than just the expected standard that some people want and in reality I think that a lot of people just take up the opinions of others just to be apart of a group rather than actually give their own thoughts for fear of being ostracized which is a very valid concern but a sad one to know that some people can’t give their true feelings without fear of being tossed aside as a Casual or being thought of as not a fan of their favorite series.

Halo can be anything. Games can be anything. So why not let them be anything and experience everything with your fandom that you can experience?

Assassinations are awesome, though I will admit…they kinda got overdone. When they were introduced into Reach, they were supposed to be the replacement for the T-bag, or the spiritual successor anyway.
I remember wishing more people did it and didn’t resort to T-bagging, so they could show more skill rather than just bagging to bag but hey…you can’t always get what you want, neh?

This would certainly be frickin awesome, but I don’t think the xbox one has the power to support a 120+ server i mean battlefield 4 runs 48 people max which woulld definetly be awesome, but it wouldn’t be quite the same as a big war. However I would be really happy f they brought back an amped-up version of Invasion

Why not? PS3 supported a game full of 256 players each server and game, it was called MAG and it was released in 2010. If a game for a previous generation console can support that many each game, I have no doubt 120+ would be feasible.

There are assassinations in the game, I’ve seen it in a few ReadyUpLive gameplay videos for Halo 5 Guardians multiplayer.
