One thing everyone seems to forget about Halo 5

It’s a game, nobody is forcing you to buy it so if you don’t like how it’s turning out, well… then… just… turn the other cheek and go play some CoD. Thank you for your time.

Well some of us are Halo fans that are frustrated and disappointed that our favorite franchise is being ruined.

And some of us are excited for the direction Halo 5 is taking.

It’s sad to say but it hapens with everything when a franchise changes hands. Like a movie franchise changing director. Not “ruined” but may no longer be your cup of tea. They have different visions

This is so ignorant. The forums are for sharing ideas for the love of Halo. If we wanted to play CoD, we would, but guess what genius? We’re Halo fans. Some of us like where it’s going and some of us have some valid complaints that you could benefit from. You’re welcome

Um, nobody forgot this.

That’s why Halo 4 fell out of the XBL top 10 and 4 COD games were ahead of it.

And my problem is that I’m on both sides of this.

I loved the H5 beta. It played really well, felt fun and smooth, and I liked the art style.

But, at the same time, I hated it. It’s nothing like the usual Halo experience, the skill based rank system is terrible for anyone who plays solo, and I feel as though 343 is trying to push classic fans out and bring in new ones.

That being said, I’m still getting the game. Pre Ordered my Collectors edition the second it was available, and I don’t regret it. The Halo franchise is the reason I started playing games, and I love the story. Multiplayer is fun, but campaign is my main reason to play. The MP being really smooth and feeling fun is just a bonus for me. As long as they don’t mess up the campaign, I’ll have no major complaints.

It’s fantastic that you like it and all but that’s what we would want to do aswell but it simply doesn’t because it is rather different from the trilogy (CE, 2, 3) when you break it down in detail.

Differences that you had to have seen coming from a mile away. They changed Dev team to assume two different group of ppl have the same vision is wishful thinking. Hell look at reach its the same team and it’s what started this “era”

CE should never be grouped with 2 and 3… Stop generalizing ‘Halo’ being defined as the original trilogy. CE was far different from 2. And 3, while being closer to 2 in overall gameplay, is still kinda it’s own thing. So there has been drastic change for EVERY Halo game that has come out. NOTHING has stayed the same (a trend bungie started) I’m not defending H4 or H5, I’m simply stating that the game has always been in a state of change. Nothing has ever been consistent between titles.

The only fundamental difference between Halo CE and 2 are certain gimmick abilities like high jacking and duel wielding; aside from that they are nearly identical games. What makes them different is the physics engine that gave Halo CE a certain floatiness too it. The physics engine has stayed the same since Halo 2, and as such the games that came after it–specifically Halo 3–played just like Halo 2 but for the new gimmicks.

Halo CE may have been its own thing, but the differences between all of the other Halos is about as significant as the differences between various CoD iterations. And yet the only two Halo games that seem truly successful in the community’s eyes are the two that 1) were piss-easy to play (Halo 2) or 2) were almost identical to Halo 2 but for a few negligible gimmicks and an asinine aiming mechanic that made long range combat a dice roll (Halo 3). Also they were both deved by Bungie, and that’s about it.

These games were far from the visage of perfection people seem to hold them up as. I like Halo 5 because the new movement mechanics make combat more flavorful than the monotonous “shoot, strafe, shoot, strafe” formula I’ve seen a thousand times, and my bullets actually go where I aim them, unlike Halo 3, which had such high bullet spread you’d be lucky more than anything to get a four shot or even a five shot. In playing Halo 5 I learned other ways to outskill my enemies, to use the new movement powers to my advantage, rather than relying on just the same tire old tactics once again. But at the same time Halo 5 has room for improvement–the bullet magnetism that made Halo 2 such a cake walk is back, certain power weapons I feel shouldn’t be on the maps in the quantity they are in, and so on. But I can not honestly say that Halo 5 feels so different that it’s not Halo. I may use new tactics and abilities but I still also more often than not fall back on the way I’ve always played Halo. Hip-fire strafe, positioning, shield-breaking, all of it feels like Halo to me, but with additional new skills you have to learn.

To the general community, I agree with the OP though. If you don’t like it, don’t play it. 343i has given us the option to toggle on and off all of the new abilities and this can only mean that there will be classic playlists. If that still isn’t good enough for you then maybe it’s time to call it quits; I know you all love Halo, but the OP I feel is justified in missing that. Some people honestly seem to hate Halo for the amount of immature rage being thrown around here. It’s gotten to the point where it’s no longer about loving Halo, it’s about hating the developers. If rage and disappointment is all you see, then leave. If you choose to stay however, don’t get defensive when you’re called out for being a hate-monger. People only call it as they see it.

Im not mad completely im sad that 343 thinks that we need to head in Cod’s direction I wanna another Halo 2 but a better story no SR ratings and crap like that just everyone with a BR 2 Frags and no halo 4 crap. If you miss it go to Cod

Change is the only constant.
I hated where 343 was taking Halo 4. Bought it, stopped playing after a month. Vented on the forums for a bit, then made my peace with the fact that I had to just walk away from my beloved franchise. Everything comes to an end but sometimes it’s wise to end it on a positive note instead continuing on in a direction you do not approve of. Gives you control over the situation.

Luckily for me I greatly enjoyed the Halo 5 beta and am happy to be back.

^this is a qoute from somebody else…

So nearly identical? when you just described GAME CHANGING differences…

And Halo2 and Halo3 did not use the same physics engine. The Halo 3 engine was modeled after 2s but it is still not identical. And Reach used a whole new engine and the physics are once again different, and also there’s way more gimmicks… which make it A DIFFERENT FEEL / EXPERIENCE which in turn MAKE IT GAME CHANGING…

Honestly I loved the original trilogy but I don’t wanna go back to it. I am so over mastering one gun. The weapon sandbox in halo 5 is not perfect but it’s better than halo 1 through 3 by a mile. I have my same starts and they removed the stupid cod like ordiance. The directions they are going with mobility is not a COD directions it’s an FPS direction. Luckily for us we are Spartans in million dollar suits they made sense. I love what they COULD add to the holy trinity. More than I am afraid what they remove to it.

My crouch jumping is also back in its glory. My strafe speed has been increased. The difference in speed between sprint and base speed has been reduced. It’s not gonna be an easy tast but if they make the mechanics works fix the TTK halo 5 can be great. I rather they make these changes work than give me back halo 3 which is my favourite halo btw.

Thank you!

No, COD sucks. But sprint is hardly an issue anyway. Sprint was not what made H4 suck. It was the loadouts and the ordnance drops. And to nerf the sprinting to cater to the non sprint crowd, they’re slowing the sprint and increasing the base player speed, and you can’t recharge your shields if you sprint.

For me it was the lack of balance and the lack of a true skilled ranking system.
