One thing Buck and Locke have in common.

They both could have been Spartans before the Spartan IV program. Buck could of been a Spartan 2 if he had better genetics, and Locke could have been a Spartan 3 if he didn’t hold a grudge on the UNSC for not saving his home planet. I find this funny because they are some of the best Spartan 4s and would have probably be better in they were in the two previous programs. They have a lot in common.

As far as I’m aware Buck was one year too old for spartan 2’s program.

And somehow he looks younger than chief.

Cryo sleep can shave years off of a man

Plus, when you are modeled after nathan fillion, is age really a factor?

I think chief has had a lot more cryo sleep than buck. For sure.
II think that in a future were cancer is a largely unknown disease, which can be cured easily, age really isn’t a problem
Look at halsey for example

Oh yeah I forgot about cryo, though as the guy above said, chief has also been in cryo. I’m not upset about it, it’s just fun to me.

umm, we know what chief looks like as of H5G time? when did that happen only looks we get at chief are in extended universe, none of which is present day. also keanu reeves looks like he did in the matrix… immortal actor -Yoink-

back to the topic, yea they might have thrived in previous programs, if buck had been a year younger and locke survived the mass suicide style missions spartan 3’s got sent on. i think they will make good spartan 4’s and i look forward to the campaign

Sort of.

I cant help but wonder if we’ll at least get a few side remarks about Buck’s old team. I am mildly interested in knowing whether they survived the rest of the war.

Read Halo: New Blood.

You mean Alpha Nine? There’s plenty of info on what the Rookie and crew did after ODST. I don’t want to spoil anything for you, but it’s out there if you’re interested.

I don’t know. I feel like Locke and Buck are completely different. Buck took his team through the 2nd Battle of New Mombasa and Locke couldn’t hold it together for Nightfall.

Locke’s team had no experience fighting thanolekgolo on a Halo fragment. Buck’s team probably wouldn’t have faired that well either.

true, you are right there’s the eyes from H4’s legendary extra, but remember, that’s just the eyes and its pre-rendered content, not game engine. not exactly the best comparison between an in engine buck and a preren chief eyes. and like i said, buck could be like keanu reeves, immortal

There’s absolutely no comparison between the two situations. Switch Locke with Buck in Nightfall and I guarantee the exact same thing STILL happens.

What makes you think Buck hadn’t genetics suitable to S-II program? There’s no way of knowing…

What I don’t get is how they are enhanced physically as adults to fly around, run and gun, and kill waves of Covenant like in the recent opening video.

Buck is kinda too old for any sort of gene or hormone therapy. I gave the Spartan 4’s slack in Halo 4 because I assumed they were enhanced in their teenage years during Chief’s cryo sleep. Now I’m seriously confused by the science behind the Spartan 4 soldier.

Nope. The Spartan IV’s are similar to the Spartan I’s (or the ORION Project) in that it consists of consenting adults, the majority of whom are experienced and battle-hardened soldiers. The use of children/teenagers is no longer necessary.

Spartan IVs consist of adults of varying ages. The augmentation procedures are similar to that of the Spartan IIs and are only possible on adults of varying genetic structures because of the technological advancements in the 30+ years since the Spartan IIs were augmented as teenagers. Granted, the procedures aren’t as effective for the IV’s because they’re adults receiving them, as well as the fact that Spartan IIs are all genetically superior, but that’s where the Gen II armor comes into play; to help bridge that gap and make them as equally effective as possible.

He does look younger than Chief. Chief looks … wait, what? How old does Chief look? Have you seen him? lol

Eyes don’t count as a face-reveal.
