One step for 343, three steps back for mankind.

After playing Halo 5, and forcing myself to like it because i liked the previous games. I have came to the conclusion that my fellow players have been doing the same. The lack of options that we once had is frustrating. Why should we settle for less options on a new game that most Xbox users have bought their systems for. for example, why can i not decide which option of big team slayer I want to play. why am i forced to play CTF or Stronghold when i really want to simply play big team slayer? Why am i not allowed to select a different shoulder for my armor? There is a lot of things that we once had that we don’t have anymore. Sadly finding out why we don’t have these things does not do anything for the veteran players. Unfortunately, the newcomers does not help my plea. they simply don’t see what they’re missing out on, so the game seems fine to them. Sadly, newcomers, noobs, halo virgins, this is not the game people have been raving about. Honestly I feel bad for those people who are just now experiencing the game because you missed out on a lot of fun. I’m not saying Halo 5 is a bad game, but it is a huge step backwards. It is enjoyable enough to play, but ask yourself, would you buy the next one? This is more of a rant for my fellow vet players to relate to while 343 acknowledge the sad excuse of what they turned a beautiful series into.

You’ve always had objective modes in BTB, in every Halo game.

The fact that it is not an option for me to make is quite bizarre. i should be able to choose which kind of big team i can play, not the game. you’re right it was in every game. so was slit-screen multiplayer and viewing others players customization without clicking on the players name. If you are letting the game decide for you, who is playing who?

The reasons games are getting a worse are because they put profit ahead of player experience now.

I think it’s by far the best Halo game since Halo 3. I love the dynamics and fluidity that come with the new movements. I still feel like a spartan when I play. I really disliked that in other Halos I had become so susceptible to getting just hammered from BRs from everywhere and I couldn’t run and gun anymore (which is my favorite). I had to become adaptive because all I played was extremely high level players and ended up just having mid-long range shooting matches and that’s no longer the case with Halo 5.

The BTB has always been varied game types. So you’re on crack there. Also every Halo since I can remember has started with a limited playlist selection and then the developers add more as time goes on. They want to make people get hooked the way they want them to get hooked. They want you to learn the features that are standard and then when the population dips a little bit after 5-6 months they add in Slayer Pro or Team Doubles.

I think they people that are complaining about it the most are the same people that are playing it a -Yoink- ton still and not “getting everything” they thought they would out of it, (whatever the -Yoink- that means). But mostly they just see things one way and wish they had more. Well, the games rockin’ awesome like it is. Sure, there are several things that need to work on but it’s still awesome.

You are clear proof of my point. You disliked the game before when it had a massive amount of fans for the difference the game made. now you like it because you can “run and gun.” go play call of duty if you want a run and gun game. don’t get on halo or battlefield and get upset that you can’t just hop on and be the best. I hate the fact that 343 has fans who swear by this because they followed a trend and made it like another Call of Duty. I paid 60$ plus tax for someone to tell me to wait until the game gets good. you’re being robbed and loving it.

Yep.

Nah, the reasons games are getting worse is because the complexity of games continues to increase as consumer demand for something bigger and better rises.

Consumers also expect these games to come out in a short enough time span to keep them hyped through the whole development process and expect bug fixes to take a day at most.

They had 3 years! 3 years!

And the game launched retaining 50% of the content that all previous installments had.

“One step for 343, three steps back for mankind.”
Three steps back for mankind? It is just a video game.

LoL! OP is a fan of drama.

There was for sure BTB Slayer (its own playlist) in previous Halos.

I like how you have turned forcing something down the consumers throat into “They want to make people get hooked”.

Is that like Regicide? Remember that game mode they added instead of FFA in Halo 4? That was a fail and 343i added FFA later, too late, IMO. Now in Halo 5 Regicide is no where to be found and FFA was available at launch…

This seems like the same pattern that will happen with Warzone, the problem is, 343 has created an entire multiplayer experience around Warzone and maps that are only really playable for Warzone games. While I enjoy playing Warzone, when I have at least half a full team of friends, it is a failure.

No there wasn’t, the difference between previous Halo games and Halo 5 is that there is no option to vote or veto.

Halo 3 had Slayer and objective in one BTB playlist but the option to veto maps and/or gametypes they didn’t want to play. Don’t want CTF Valhalla? Good for you here’s slayer on Sandtrap!

Halo Reach was the same thing only now you had three maps and gametypes to choose and an option for none of the above which would add another three if chosen. Congratulation you just turned a game of Assault on Hemorrhage into a Slayer game on Boneyard!

This was the same deal with Halo 4 and MCC, only there was no ‘None of the Above’ option. You can vote for the same maps and the same gametypes over and over again.

As for Halo 2, no idea it’s been too long since I had played the original to know the playlist lineup.

Im not really into arguing on forums, but…

Halo 4 had Big Team Infiinity Slayer… and Halo 3 had BTB Skirmish, and BTB Slayer in social for a long time. In Halo 3, the population began to reduce, and they released squad battle, which eliminated BTB Slayer and skirmish separate playlists

Im not sure what any of this has to do with voting.

Halo Reach, Halo 4, Halo MCC, and Halo 5 have all been poor games. Its just stunning to watch this franchise degrade like this. The only reason I play it is because every other shooter is poor too! CS:GO is one that seems good but i don’t have cpu. All this money in the industry and these games have just been awful.

OP is a vet player with no game time played in any other Halo games. Mhmm

I’ve been playing since CE bruh. Logged more hours that first year of Halo 2 than most of you will log in the next two Halo games combined. I’m talking 8 hours a day on weekdays, 14 on weekends. I was 13 and I had nothing else going on in my life. All my friends were there too. Halo 2 was a phenomenal game. I’m talking about that one in a million masterpiece that does what few other pieces of media can do.

Halo 5 is the closest I have come since then to feeling that way. The action is so fast and intense, all the weapons are worth using, the maps are fun, the matchmaking is fast, the REQ system is a great way to provide a steady stream of unlocks with the added excitement of not knowing exactly what you’re going to get.

The point is, I’m 24-years-old. I’ve been playing Halo for 14 years and I love Halo 5. OP does NOT speak for the entire Halo fanbase, just a big group of crybabies who can’t enjoy a game without picking it the -Yoink- apart.

OP even said himself that Halo 5 is not a bad game…

He doesn’t like the choices that were made around gametypes and playlist options, has nothing to do with gameplay. I have been playing Halo since CE, I logged over 8000 MP games in both Halo 2 and Halo 3. I agree with Op, with the limited number of options, we should be able to vote.

I can deal with not having the customization, or the option to veto. I cannot deal with not having Team Doubles. When it comes down to it, I just want to play the game with my best friend. I don’t care about BTB and a bunch of randoms, I want to play a game type where myself and my friend can team up, and put a serious hurting on 2 other fools. This is by far one of the most competitive game-types, and almost always gets my hands shaking/adrenaline pumping. With 4 people, especially if 2 or more are randoms, you just don’t get that same feeling because your relying on random people, and your impact seems to be so much less.
