I love this game and I love just about everything about it. HOWEVER, can we have X’s back? When I say “Xs” I’m obviously referring to the big red Xs that signify a teammate’s death. Right now they are only on the mini map, and not on the HUD.
I realize this is a long shot, but if Xs don’t come back, I’m curious to know the reason why they are gone?
This would be pointless considering instant spawning.
Also, learn map callouts instead, much easier than having to turn around and look for “your X”.
You know I never considered the instant spawn thing, good point. I typically play with a group of people who are still used to saying “One shot on my X” but your right.
I’m always amazed after playing Halo with the same people, for such a long time, 100s of games on Reach and Halo 3, and some of these people still wouldn’t be able to call out on Countdown or The Pit.
How do you call out on symmetrical maps with no location weapon spawns…
Instant spawning has nothing to do with this. When my teammate dies, I wanna know quickly where he died so I can finish the kill.
Yea instant spawn has everything to do with this, bc guess what… when he respawns your team mate isn’t dead anymore… hence no X.
I know how you feel bro…
If my team mate gets physically raped I sure as hell wanna know about it and where it happened!
> How do you call out on symmetrical maps with no location weapon spawns…
“White wall!.. NO, The OTHER white wall!”
Still doesn’t stop the fact that the X could always be on a 3-5 second timer, regardless of whether he respawned instantly or not.

All symmetrical maps have special aspects to each side. Adrift - Blue Spawn or Red Spawn.
Solace - Moss side or Clean side.

Haha… yea no kidding.

That would narrow down one half of the map.

The X could stay there for a few seconds regardless if the guy respawned or not. Also, not every gametype has instant respawning.

Yeah. It’s just a programming choice. Seems like they’re doing a lot of awful ones.
I didn’t even notice the X was missing and I don’t miss it. If you’re playing with a regular team, you need to come up with callouts that will quickly direct them to your last position. Describe the landscape if you have to. Some things are blatantly obvious.
Too many things on hud.
Also consider the fact that the Rogue specialization allows you to see where the opponent who Killed you is for a short amount of time. However, this only works for the person using it (obviously) and only allows you to see the person who killed YOU.
EDIT: whoops, made a mistake! it’s not the Rogue specialization, I meant Stalker.

And by the time you “describe the landscape” and your team actually know what you mean, it doesn’t matter at all…
Basically they got rid of the X so they could make room for useless things the clutter your HUD. LIke weapon spawn pictures…which is the dumbest thing ever…
tl;dr the responses.
I miss the X(s). I play with people who still use this callout. Even with instant respawns (in slayer gametypes only!) I see no reason why the X(s) couldn’t be on a small timer that way people can still reference them.
Let’s not forget that this is suppose to be crazy far in the future, location references are so 21st century. And, as someone said, the maps are pretty bland… like haven for example…
Hmm, maybe the forum community needs to get together and make some callout locations, then start using those callouts ingame to start a trend.
But goodluck with that lol.
