"One shot on my X" uh

THIS IS NOT JUST A DISCUSSION OF MULTIPLAYER, BUT HALO 4 AS A WHOLE

As it was discussed in the post, the red x over a dead comrade’s body is being implemented back into Halo 4.

All I have to say is, WHY?

Why wasnt this implemented in the first place? Shouting out “one shot on my x” was one of the many benefactors that led to a team winning in any competitive slayer gametype, in multiplayer or in custom games. Except now custom games is virtually in shambles.

What i’m trying to say is, why was the competitive community of Halo almost entirely thrown aside? Not only because of something as small as a red x was not placed in Halo, but for how MLG was not even included, and since so little effort has been put into custom games (both it’s creation and it’s changes and implementations) just shows that this game caters to casuals almost entirely.

When I used to casually play Halo back in the day before i started to invest more time into it, i would visit custom games once in a blue moon, mostly to look at maps, or to just see what forge is like. I would believe that this is how most casuals view custom games, which is why so little has been to fix it, because casuals barely play them. No person is going to say “wow the customs is awful so i am returning” but it is still a main aspect of Halo. Although it started to die in Reach, it was still better then than now.

All I want to say is, why was something as simple, yet so important and critical for competitive, as the red x over a dead team mate take THIS long to be put BACK into the game? Hopefully MLG will be next and soon customs will be fixed.

And about the newly added competitive gametype: i dont even really consider it a significant change. It’s basically like arena without the “seasons” or “divisions”, which was, keep in mind, a complete failure as well.

Hey, you know what’s more important then something as trivial as a red X?

A local only search option.

Hey, you know what’s easier to implement than things like a local search option?

A red X.

I’m sorry, but it’s been awhile… uh… what exactly is that?

You do understand this is built into Matchmaking by default now, having an option for it won’t do anything to stop you matching those from other countries. Halo 4 has an much lower player base now, laggy games are to be expected.

Why are you even complaining about this? It’s coming back and it’s been announced, just wait till it’s out. Then you can yell to your teammates to find your killer at your X as you continually get destroyed.

You didn’t read the entire post…

Why do you even post if you just read the first line?

Rookie.

…I gotta give you props. You didn’t go for the low hanging fruit and quickly resorted to “n00b”.

I would say both are pretty suitable…

I read it bud, but this is the only issue I’m going to address. The MLG not being here has nothing to do with the X, it’s the contract with -Yoink!-. 343i also made it clear their intentions for no X was to “better the communication.” Keep yourself a bit better informed.

I have 2 theories as to why the x wasn’t implemented n the first place. 1 being that it was a complete over-sight. The other being for a few competitive reasons. As nice as it is to be able to shout “1 shot on my x” it’s stops players from learning or using basic map callouts as often. Before I learned to use map callouts I used to just scream “1 shot on my x”, “Direct X”, or “around my x”. It’s the most basic call out. Not having it makes players want to learn the call outs. I just wish some of the maps were easier to call out.

I’m sorry, but I find this topic illogical. And rantish.

343 doesn’t include something you want, so you complain. They put it in. Now, instead of stopping your complaining, you decide to complain that the ARE putting it in.

And then use the topic to tell us about your own list of unrelated, personal issues with the game.

I just don’t see the point.

> Implying there’s actually a competitive community

But back to the point. You;re mad not that they’re putting the red “X” back in gameplay, but that they took this long to do it? At this point in time, there is literally no way this could be a good thing to you, could it?

Quoting 343 does not really make your arguments any stronger… and neither does the contract with -Yoink!-…

you do realize that the contract with -Yoink!- just means that Halo 4 will not be played at MLG events. where is the -Yoink!- playlist then? they host the tournaments, where’s the playlist? just because they are not partnered with MLG anymore, does not mean they cannot implement a competitive playlist for it since it would attract some competitive players?

this game just downright evades anything competitive. how would not seeing a player’s red x “better the communication” in a game of randoms, when people BARELY TALK because of party chats and lack of awareness of maps, how does this better your argument AT ALL? even if everyone in the game was talking it is just easier to visually see it than hear it.

even with hearing it, it’s so much easier to just say “my x!” instead “yeah he killed me by that tree over there.” if you can’t already tell, 343’s intentions were poor in this game. so why would you even quote what their intentions were seeing that they avoided any aspect of competitiveness in this installment.

MLG, VOG, same thing, both organizers for gaming tournaments. no playlist with these competitive settings. still could be implemented, but it isnt. logic and argument is flawed comrade.

I mean I am not really complaining about them taking this long, but more so that it is just something to spark up a conversation about how much the competitive community was just thrown aside in this game.

but back to your point, it should have been included in the game in the first place. it should not have needed to be added. it would have freed up a little more time for something else to be improved, no matter how small, but still something would have some more time to be observed and make the game better. i just dont understand why it wasnt in the game in the first place.

I mean, back in the H3 days i still did map call outs along with the x call out. like i said before, it is still easier to call out the x than the real position of map, but that is just my opinion, so it doesnt really matter i guess…

but i mean, i dont think the red x really hindered getting familiar with a map, seeing as constantly playing the game one would eventually be familiar with all the maps one way or another.

OR

what actually happened is they took something out for no reason, and decided to reintroduce it as if it was something new…

weakness…

if you dont see the point, why comment? clearly others that posted see it, and i see it. so if you dont see it, what really is the point?

Oh ok so um Team Throwdown isn’t their announced competitive playlist…but hey whatever right? Competitiveness is in the eye of the beholder I guess. Plus I don’t know how not having the X would make it more competitive, as you said it’s a quote, not my words. I never said I agreed with what they said. I wanted the X back as well. And I bring up -Yoink!- cause I think the contract was a mistake when MLG is better and more prestigious by overall opinion. You tell me to read, perhaps you should re-read. I ain’t here to fight though, I’m just saying it’s coming back, 343i is working on a bunch of things, why complain?

It was microsoft’s idea to sign the contract. and although MLG wants to work with halo 4, many see it as a mistake because of halo’s vast decline.

and i mentioned the team throwdown playlist in my thread… it’s nothing special… just something to literally throw some complaining people a bone.
