one problem with the 'ordnance drops'

when you looked at reach’s invasion slayer you had them…
what was wrong with it?

snipers or DMR wielders could easily pick up kills by just camping from a distance.
now for me it’s not really a problem cause i like to troll everyone from a distance while they’re are fighting for the objective.

but is this smart what 343 is doing?
i think it might kill the fun for a lot of players

weapons drop on camping players, killing them. problem solved.

i do see your point (its one of the reasons that i dont play invasion, well, that and boneyard), it may be a problem but as long as it equals the playing field a little for less experienced players (like myself) it sounds like a good idea.

How will drop pods work indoors just come crashing in .

Simple.

Since this is a holodeck of sorts, they will simply materialize within the borders of maps that take place in buildings and such.

After hearing that, I kind of got mad.

Halo should not be having a cater-to-noobs attitude - this will get them nowhere. The casuals will usually be playing cod, and the competitive players will leave.

If you die more, then you deserve it. In Halo 1, 2 and 3, “2 Men enter. The better man leaves. The lesser man is respawning.”

In Reach, it was “2 men enter. The man who uses/abuses armor abilities leaves. The player who usually has more skill in shooting is respawning.”

If, in Halo 4, it is “2 men enter. The worse player uses whatever was given to him as compensation for being bad to kill the better player. The worse player leaves.” Then I will not play it.

I also see your view-point. this is why a good ranking system needs to be implemented. i get tired of being owned by players far superior to myself because matchmaking never seems to match me up with people my skill range. all i would like is an opportunity to improve with people around my skill range instead of a constant ticket to the respawn screen.
the random weapon drops will be great if this does not occur, as i will be able to get at least some sweet sweet revenge :stuck_out_tongue:

However, the ordnance drops will not just be shown to the one team or the other but both. Sure this eliminates the need to memorize spawn timers for the less experienced player but since the better team will know where to push and set up, this negates the advantage for the newbs as if they can’t outslay the better team, they will lose control.

It’s a way to promote constant map movement (as 343 is quite aware Halo revolves around the power weapon control), make it easier for newbs to push for power weapons (instead of ignoring them as UI elements will make it clear to say “rockets are going to be over here!”) without putting the better team at a disadvantage at the same time.

However, the real issue is the need of a workable trueskill system, the big population to support it, and a ranking system. I am all for a nice balance of ranked and social IMO.

To touch on the original problem posed, camping snipers can just camp in any game, and take out anyone from a distance. Preset weapon/item locations enable campers, by forcing the player to move to a known location of a desired item. Random item drop pods will make it so that the camper can’t watch one location, at least in the case of watching over an item spawn.

As someone mentioned earlier, the drop pods could land on players, killing them. This would give one incentive to move, plus the fact to keep stocked on ammo. I prefer this, because I’m never able to memorize weapon locations on any of the maps. Plus if you don’t control those points from the start, chances are you’ll never get the weapon you want, unless you take it from the cold, dead hands of your enemy.

Really, I want to see a game mode that has a frenzy of drop pods, with players just trying to survive the insanity. That is just me, being weird, though.

ODs are a great addition to the game imo.
It’s exactly like before, but it’s better.
Now, the battle will be constantly moving instead of sitting in one spot the entire time.
Take Guardian for example, the battle was always at the center.

The weapons are telegraphed in, not by a drop pod.
