Could be the challenge system.
I play well below my potential when I’m trying to get kills with the pulse carbine or trying to rush in for a melee kill etc etc
This cause me to die often when I could have won the engagement. I play much better once I’ve got the ultimate reward for that week.
Just a thought that came to me when I was thinking of why the sbmm aiming for equal teams still seems to throw up odd results
I think it may well be one possible cause of blowouts (among other things). Does anyone agree?
This is only in social of course, I don’t go for these challenges in ranked.
challenges mess me up sometimes as well. Decided I’d get this weekly ult in case it gets cross cored in the future. Anyways, that forced me to get over 50 melee kills and I normally don’t go for melees.
I think a bigger reason for blowouts in social is that nobody wants to try as hard as they can in every game. So you could have an onyx player on your team that the game thinks will obliterate the rest. But they’re just chilling.

Or for the fact that the game consistently puts you into lop sided games where a slightly above average player has to constantly play teams full of onyx players while I have zero onyx players on my team. I’m the last couple days I’ve played over 15 people ranked in the top 1000 of the world and I’ve never even hit onyx ever.

In Social playlists, you’re going to run into players who are just there trying to have fun. That was the entire point of Social playlists until 343 decided to have an idea. Those types of players aren’t trying to play Halo for rank or money or some imaginary tournament but the SBMM automatically turns ALL matches into competitions. And because of the forced competition that no one asked for in a Social setting, a vast majority of the time, the best players on the team are forced to carry the “dead weight” that is really just a random free to play player who has only played Halo for a little while. This has pretty much killed the Solo-players of Halo. Which only declined the population even further.
I understand there has to be a rating of some kind so similar skilled players can play together fairly, but Social’s SBMM feels just as strict as Ranked’s and I think that is the main problem but Challenges and the overall lack of quality content definitely add fuel to that fire as well.

Exactly! I am dealing with the same issue. So frustrating!
