Every Halo game has it good points and bad points, no game is perfect.
Instead of saying it should be Halo Reach 2! Or Halo 3.5, why can’t we go on a comprise, taking on the best of each game, along with a lot of new features that could work in Halo? (Like Campaign Weapon Customization, Crysis style, would be an awesome new feature for campaign only, more variety and freedom the better).
I think that Halo, like the example above, should be less linear and have more freedom to do what you want to do, at least in the campaign.
We are in a shield world in Halo 4. The surface area of it would be incalculable. A linear campaign wouldn’t do it justice, at least have ODST style or New Alexandra style areas to explore, and no, not for the whole campaign, maybe for one mission. So, we check out area A for one mission, and B for another. It wouldn’t be too big, or it will be boring as an FPS game.
This is one of the ways Halo 4 can go in a new direction, without losing the core values that make Halo.
I define “Halo” as a Green Guy killing Aliens, along with a arena style sandboxed balanced multiplayer, as well as the many other cool features and game modes.
My point is, would the above hurt that much? Weapon customization in campaign would only add to the game, anyone says it is not Halo has no idea what they are talking about.
I am not talking about blatantly copying other games e.g. terrible ideas such as iron sights and killstreaks, but say the ability to add a 10x scope, more customization and and weapon customization in the Campaign, the ability to have different types of Warthogs, different weapons etc.
How awesome would it be to add a silencer to a pistol, like ODST, and take it off when you feel like it? Or a grenade launcher, a 3x scope, different sniper rounds, ability to add more Scorpian tank LMG’s for added firepower etc.
It is still the Master Chief killing aliens. We still have Cortana by our side. We are still in knee deep Forerunner junk, still looking for a Flood cure, or a way to stop the Flood, without firing the remaining Halo rings.
It is still Halo, but it will finally give the fans something new, something they deserve, and the reviewers a reason not to rate the game down. I find it disgusting that COD gets 10s and 9s every year and those same reviewers give other games lower scores for lack of originality.
We can do this people!
