One or the Other. Not both

So I’ve been a Halo player since Halo CE, (pretty sad I know) and I’ve always been able to jump from gametype to gametype and do a decent job. Well fast forward to Halo 5 and that’s a different story. I normally stick to Warzone for the wide open battles where I’m normally in the top 5 players. After getting bored I decided to hop onto team slayer to mix it up expecting to play a decent game…and I got absolutely demolished going 6 and 16. This was the tipping point for me because this has been going on for a while now. Out maneuvered and just all around out-played. I’ve been trying to use my tried-and-true method of sticking to the walls and being cautious but that normally ends up with me getting hit form behind constantly.

Now I understand that with the spartan abilities things need to be shaken up to stay in the game, but has the OG formula been THAT much altered to the point where it’s a mad dash for the first person you find and sprint at them like raging bull. Yet again it may be my bad CQC skills.

I would really like to know if any of you feel the same way or having the same problem as me.

Probably just wait until BTB to take Team Slayer’s place.

I pretty much left 4v4 behind with Reach. I do suck at CQC and with all the speed added by the new motion mechanics I haven’t got any better. And it isn’t just sprint and thrusters that speed things up. Halo 5 TS maps are smaller than Halo 4 TS maps, and what other reason could there be except to speed up the game even more? I’m sure this kind of game play is fun and challenging for teenagers on Adderall, but it just holds no appeal for me anymore. And that’s okay. I still have BTB and I think Warzone is the best thing to happen to Halo in fifteen years. It’s nice to have a space within the game where I don’t need an amphetamine prescription in order to have a good time.

It’s a very different atmosphere, I agree. Flipping back and forth is difficult. And yes, Halo 5 is so much different from the older games that the old styles of play don’t really work.

You can’t expect to play the same way you did in CE and get the same results 14 years later. Gameplay has to evolve and with that the tactics you use. But i’m glad to hear you found something that suits your style. It’s also the faster way to get req points as well
