"One or more players are not ready..."

I’m going to describe what it’s like for me to play Halo: MCC right now so that 343 knows of this particular experience (if someone gets to this) and so that I can see if others are experiencing this similar, specific issue.

It’s always hard to get a game - it’s been consistently difficult and frustrating every day since launch and I’ve seen little to no improvement regardless of the patches.

Now, when I play, it will randomly state the following message when I try to do a search with my friend/party:

“One or more players are not ready to start matchmaking” despite this very much not being the truth.

Then, if one of us switches who the party leader is, we’re then able to bypass that message and search, and, after a long wait, sometimes we get a game.

We’ve gotten two games in forty-five minutes.

After the game is over, one of us becomes locked in the post-game lobby while the other gets sent back to the playlists. We’ve discovered that if we just don’t touch anything, and we just wait like five minutes, we eventually both get sent back to the playlists screen, but then the party leader is reversed. And then we have to repeat the process over again - switching leaders because of the “one or more players” message (keep in mind we’re both all updated and have good connections with open nats).

At the time of this writing we’re able to join parties and start a search, but then we get separated into to different searches and different games.

It’s just a very disheartening, miserable, confusing experience. Any insight into if others have encountered this issue or a fix to such issues would be helpful. It just seems hopeless, and that’s painful when this game was meant to be the rebirth of not only beloved Halo, but genuinely competitive, ranked matchmaking.

Thank you for reading.

Same experience here. My friends and I are classic Halo fans, no plans to purchase H5 as the new style doesn’t appeal to us. Incredibly sad this game isn’t playable cause I fear its longevity is going to be extremely short.

You are lucky. We can’t even switch party leader to get it work. We sometimes have to boot up a custom match and even then the message still persists when we try to get in matchmaking.

I really want this game to work and I don’t now what the last patch did but it sadly made things actually worse for me.

I’ve been having this same problem. It seems to be related to the “awaiting privileges” problem (which I’ve found can be bypassed by just repeatedly pressing A until it stops showing the message and lets you into playlist selection). However, even if you bypass the solo “awaiting privileges” problem, you still get the “one or more players” message when trying to play alongside friends in matchmaking.

Same issue here.

It’s so annoying! I can’t play with any of my friends now because this message pops up all the time. I have been so patient with this game… It’s almost been 2 months and this game is still struggling a ton. Stop caring about the halo 5 beta and fix the game that needs to be fixed. .

Same problem here. I don’t even bother trying to play with friends or add people from my past game anymore. I’ve probably wasted more time trying to build a team & waiting in the stupid lobby than i care to talk about.

I am dealing with the same EXACT experience as the OP. To summarize my experience since the last update, if not longer (see NOTE)

My brother will be online and playing Halo MCC, however he does not appear on my roster like all my other friends. He sees me on his roster. We both have great connections, open NATS and have done the whole power cycle your modem/router, power cycle the console, etc.

I have to go to my friends list to invite him to game that way, which he is able to accept and join my session. Once he accepts, his gamertag magically shows up in my game session.

Then I attempt to start a search, and get the 1 or more players are not ready to start matchmaking.

Then I give him session leader, and he is able to start the search.

If we’re both off of a fresh quit the build, we’re able to chat and we successfully find/join/play a match making game.

Once the game is over, I get stuck in the post game carnage report for minutes before I can hit B to exit, meanwhile he is able to hit B and back out of the report in seconds.

At this time, game/lobby chat then decides not to work, so we have to go to party chat.

We have never successfully backed out and played a 2nd/consecutive game. The next search will search for players, and then we’ll usually get a failed to connect message and it splits us up into separate searches.

Then we quit the build, and repeat. We tolerate this because we’ve enjoyed Halo for over a decade now and enjoy the game, when it works. Any title other than Halo and I would not tolerate this frustration.

Note: My Legacy Thumbstick layout does not work in Halo 2 Anniversary, so I’m limited to the amount of playlists I can attempt to enjoy all while not being a detriment to my teammates. This problem is easily 3 weeks old now.

A friend and I played all day together one day this past week. But just us two, we played ranked and got paired with some good teammates. Every time we tried to party up after we destroyed the other team, we wouldn’t be able to search because we got the same message. We all rebooted, hard reset our Xbox’s, nothing, switching party leader did nothing either. Sometimes in a lobby searching I will STILL be thrown into lobbies with a random group of players or I go to a broken UI screen with code all over it, telling me I was playing the “pillar of autumn” campaign mission.

Check your security settings on your xbox one and make sure it is set to adult. My friends was changed to custom and I couldn’t see him in roster it start a matchmaking game with him. This fixed it immediately.

I’m having the same issues. I was trying to play today with 3 buddies and when we do get passed the “One or more players are not ready to start matchmaking” problem a lot of the time we would all be sent into different searches, causing us to have to back out and rejoin each other. It seemed like it worked more consistently when there were just 3 of us for some reason. With 4 of us I think we got into 1 match in an hour. The other problem I commonly see is getting stuck at joining session.

I love the game when I do get into matches but It’s frustrating in its current condition. I suggested my buddy (previous Playstation user) get MCC so he could play with us and this was his first experience with Halo ever. I love Halo so I’ll stick it out until its all fixed (I’m hoping it will be anyway) but I feel bad for people who are having this as their first experience.

All that being said I really do love the concept of the game and playing the campaigns with friends locally has been awesome. Like OP said if anyone has any tips for things WE can do to make things work better such as changing Xbox settings it’d be much appreciated. I’m also curious if there is any info on future patches.

I get the same exact issue.

The same thing just happened to me when I and two players playing on the same xbox online tried to team up. Maybe they don’t want good players to play together? Haha.

Same issue… Can’t even play worth my friends. Very disappointed with this game.
