"One of the all time best MP shooters"

A person reviews Halo 2’s MP map pack. He says “MP Halo 2 is still the best MP action experience on consoles if not on any platform” (4:30 in video). That quote is from when the map pack was released.

The quote in the subject is from 0:53 in the video.

I think most of the maps on the map pack were awesome. Also, I agree with most of his points about the MP being one of the best all time.

If they return Halo 2 to XBL (in it’s original form) I hope they release a map pack with large levels for 12 v 12 BTB MP MM.

What do you think?

I really thought that H2 set the standard for how map packs (DLC) should be released. Since then, a game has not met that standard on bringing new content to the Xbox Live experience. You now see time and time again just companies and games trying to pull money out of the buyer of the game rather than just trying to lengthen and add a variety to the map packs.

Anywho. While I was watching the video, I remember each of the maps and all the fun I had through MM with them, then I also remember friendly glitching out of Turf, Superjumping on Warlock, and others with friends in custom games.

I am one of those that also downloaded the map pack that game out with the remake of Hang Em High.

I thouroughly enjoyed H2 multiplayer experience along with the map packs.

Overall, the entire game set the standard for XBL, Map Packs (DLC), and I personally dont think that it has been met, but some games have come very close and in their own respect are very very addicting and fun online. However, looking back this map pack was awesome! : )

Halo 2 is the best MP game I’ve played. Better then Halo 3 in it’s peak years, CoD 4 in it’s peak years, TF2 on PC, anything.

And I agree on the way the map packs were handled. Pay for the first month or two, then free to download for all. It’s part of what kept Halo 2 so fresh for so long, plus there’s the fact that the maps in the map packs were awesome.

Then somewhere along the path DLC essentially became a way to milk things out. I knew when Halo 3 did DLC that didn’t become free that map packs would be a waste of money as it will be rare that you would be matched up against a bunch of people who all had the DLC in a playlist that wasn’t DLC exclusive.

Look at Reach. How often do players who have the DLC play on those maps if they aren’t in a DLC playlist? It was one of the biggest complaints. The only DLC I have for Reach is the Anniversary maps, and that’s simply to play with Anniversary settings, plus I got that for free with Halo: CEA anyway.

Compared to Halo 3 and Reach I think we can safely say that Halo 2’s maps were Golden.
