Completely agree with you on the subject. I’m gonna receive hate for this, but I’d love it if they brought back the Halo 3 ranking system. They would still be able to incorporate specialization armor into it and all that fun stuff because it still had experience play a factor. This doesn’t mean I’m not open to different ideas… before you all carve me up…
As long as the ranking system take into factor skill-level more than time played, I’m totally cool with that.
I was totally cool with Halo 4’s ranks as I reached SR 130 in under two months and kept playing after that. It gave me time to properly enjoy and play the game, and go after achievements and Commendations.

No jokes, games like CE, TF2, etc. prove games don’t need a ranking system to have amazing multiplayer

Unfortunately people now expect the instant gratification that a ranking system provides. A lot of these individuals do not play games for the love of the game, but rather for the gratification that ranks provide.
My fav ranks were reaches to be perfectly honest, i prefer to aim for things that are solid and i can keep them as milestones, and reaches took a LONG time to earn without grinding it all day every day…
With 1-50 systems, i’d likely find myself reaching a 50 then never touching that playlist so i had that marker forever, which sorta kills replay value… ideally they should be having BOTH, people like me who just want something to say i play a lot can have our recruit-inheritor system, and people who want skill based ranks can have 1-50, they can both work.
say on a pre-game lobby, it shows rank as Recruit-1, Commander-35, Inheritor-50 etc. a standard rank they earned just for playing in any mode, and a 1-50 rank next to it which is their skill in that playlist. that work for everybody? i’d say so.
