In Halo 5, the announcer calls out when a power weapon is about to spawn. I actually like this idea. It promotes a tactical change of flow for combat. After hearing this notification, you either have to prepare your team to seize the power weapon, or prepare your team so that they can counter the enemy team if your team doesn’t pick it up. it’s a cool feature that further promotes the use, and stresses the importance of power weapons in Halo 5. However, the only thing I do not like about this feature is that when a power weapon is about to spawn, a waypoint on your HUD displays where it will spawn. I feel that everything good that the “Spawn Announcement” feature does for the flow of combat is completely diminished once anybody on the map can see where the weapon will spawn.
Halo 4 suffered the same problem, the skill gap was lessened greatly simply because everyone on the map, either n00b or pro, knew where the power weapons would spawn. Or at least, they didn’t need to, as the game would blatantly show them. So please 343, remove this feature where power weapon spawns are marked with a waypoint on your HUD. But please leave the “Spawn Announcement” in the game as I like this feature, not to mention that it promotes the importance of power weapons.
How do you guys feel about the “Spawn Announcement”? I really like it
I happen to like the “Spawn Announcement” myself. However, I do have to agree with you on your second point. For me, I can actually see why they would place a waypoint on everyones HUD pointing to where the weapon is about to spawn. While it remove the need to memorise where power weapons spawn, it at least ensures that you’ll be getting into engagements as you and your team rush to secure them. With both teams knowing exactly where they’re going to spawn, it becomes a frantic fight to reach the weapon first, fighting your enemies along the way in your efforts to stop them from getting an advantage.
Basically, it serves to further keep players in the action, keeping players fighting amongst one another as they try to work together and reach each weapon before the other team. Does it also help new players learn where they spawn? Yea, but helping new players out isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
The only things I have any issue with at the moment are the clicks and beeps that play when you land a shot or kill a player. I’d rather those be removed so that players can more easily hear the sounds of their weapons.
I don’t see the issue with everyone having the information required to play the game. It’s still going to come down to which team can secure the weapon. I see this in the same boat as the red arrows that pop up showing where your getting shot from. It doesn’t hurt the game to show someone which direction they’re taking damage from in the same way that it doesn’t hurt the game if everyone is aware of where and when the weapons will spawn.
