One glaring issue with 343’s BTB map design

Quite simply the maps are too tight, now I don’t want to judge all of Halo Infinite’s BTB maps before I play them but judging off of the one shown at E3, warzone, and Halo 4 BTB the maps are all very tight and don’t allow a lot of room for vehicles. Tanks are extremely easy to board and destroy in all of 343’s Halo games and are going to be again in the new map shown especially with the addition of grapple shot. I hope we see more maps like sandtrap or avalanche in Halo Infinite. On another note I don’t think small arms should do any damage to vehicles except maybe ghosts and mongooses.

Eh, I think you’re putting too much emphasis on that map, in fact I think in the extended e3 release today, they said that was a 4v4 map. Or at least that it wasn’t a btb map. I’m sure we’ll get a lot of good maps for 12v12 with the size of btb maps are now. I’m sure they’ll be even bigger especially since theres gonna be spots where there’ll be fighting over vehicle drops. If I were to guess I feel like it’d be at least half the size of a warzone map

ONE map… we saw ONE map…

Considering we didn’t really see the whole map, I think it might be larger than you’re suggesting. The big overview in the trailer only had one of the team bases in it. It legit looked like at the most half of the map, but it was more likely just one section.

Considering it’s 12 v 12 now, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see some maps similar in size to Uplift, or some of Halo CE PC’s maps like Danger Island.

One map was a 4v4 map, but the map that they showed a scorpion and wraith on was a BTB map. And it’s not really about the size of the maps that’s the issue it’s how they’re designed. All the warzone maps except the one that was modelled after silent cartographer (can’t remember the name of it) we’re super tight so tanks we’re easily boarded, whereas a map like sandtrap is much more open yet smaller than warzone maps. It’s odd that as player movement speeds and mechanics have increased the BTB maps have gotten tighter.

I see what you mean and understand where you’re coming from, I think that map designs match a game type a lot ( or should). I feel like it would be a good map for CTF like we saw to keep the action going, but I would also love to see 343 put Blood Gulch/Hemorrhage in infinite to give some games that more open and roomy feel. I’m not to worried or complaining though, I think 343 is doing a great job with what I saw in regard of Infinite, can’t wait !

Basing this off a trailer in which we haven’t seen the whole map is a bit of a leap to be hiding the quality of the maps and now they affect gameplay.

Let’s be real for a moment, until we actually get hands on and play there is no way of actually knowing how these maps feel and if they’re going to be “tight” or not.
It’s also good to mention that not every BTB map needs to be huge in scale. Sometimes a smaller BTB map can be way more fun.

Also, like someone mentioned above, one of the maps in the trailer was actually a 4v4 map which has vehicles, so that would naturally be smaller anyway

Today during the Xbox Extended Showcase they mentioned the map you are probably referring to and stated it was 4v4.

They said the clip opened with a 4v4 with vehicles map and transitioned to btb. I will agree, we need more info as we certainly didn’t see the maps in full.

I think you missed the portion where Parris was talking about the map being BTB and they clarified it was 4v4.

No, clearly states it starts on a 4v4 vehicle map called Behemoth and transitions into btb. There is clearly two maps shown, the sandy one and the forest like one that has a Valhalla / Ragnarok vibe imo.

They have only shown 1 BTB map which is Fragmentation. They have only shown 5 maps. (https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/news/showcase-sensitive)

I’m not talking about that. Don’t know what that link is I have not seen that and the video I saw is not there from what I can see. I’m talking about the Xbox Extended Showcase that was on YouTube. There is clearly two maps, the sandy one Behemoth and Fragmentation and they sat the btb bit starts on a 4v4 player vehicle map and transitions into btb.

Fragmentation 12v12 BTB (Forest map)
Recharge 4v4 (Indoor Hydrodam map)
Behemoth 4v4 (Desert map)
Live Fire 4v4 (Training ground map)
Bazaar 4v4 (Urban/Mombasa map)

That link goes to all the maps they announced and shown lol. They only have 1 BTB they have shown and its Fragmentation. Please tell me the map you think is BTB outside of Frag.

Thank you for the breakdown. Behemoth is confusing people and it is nice that they clarified it today. Hopefully they launch with 4-6 BTB maps.

No. I watched the Xbox Extended Showcase, when it got to the bit where they discussed btb it showed a clip that started on a sandy map (Behemoth) and finished with (Fragmentation).

You stated to FlamingNinja177 “Today during the Xbox Extended Showcase they mentioned the map you are probably referring to and stated it was 4v4.”

I was merely pointing out that the clip opened with a 4v4 with vehicle map (Behemoth) and transitioned to a btb map (Fragmentation).

My bad I thought you were the original person I responded too LOL. This is what happens when you work nights. Regardless, hopefully they show more BTB maps before launch. These obviously were the ones they could polish before E3.

No probs. I’m thinking what’s this guy on lol. All good bud :+1:

I don’t we saw enough of the maps, even Sandtrap can appear tight if shown from certain angles or locations.
