One Flag Unlimited

So with the new information we have on how CTF is played in Halo 4, I believe more than ever that One Flag CTF needs a major change as to how it is played. As well all know, even with Halo 3/Reach CTF settings, One Flag tends to be unfun, full of quitters, and ends either in complete blowouts or stalemates, and many times the round ends before it even gets going.

But what change is that?

Simple; there should only be 2 Rounds - one Offense/Defense Round for each team. Each round would be 6/7 minutes long, and the goal is to cap as many Flags as possible during your offensive round. After both rounds are over, whoever has the most caps wins the game. In the event of a tie, the game tallies the teamwork medals that each team has earned (Flag Pull, Flag Defended, Assist, Lifesaver, Wheelman etc.) and the team with the higher teamwork score wins.

Why is this change important and necessary? Because of how easy it is going to be to pull the Flag and score now - considering you move at full speed and have a weapon to defend yourself with if your the Flag carrier now. It also solves the inherent problem of rounds being too short, and one simple mistake/one lucky flag pull determining an entire round. It also keeps players more involved and focused on the match since they’re actively engaged the entire time, rather than the game being split up into so many rounds.

From the few test rounds I’ve been able to run in Reach, this version definitely was more fun and competitive - and a lot more wacky and interesting stuff happened in a couple games of this than in any normal game of One Flag, because there was actually time and ability for it to happen.

I agree instead of just having both teams go back and forth for a flag why not just make it 2 or 4 rounds.

Uhhhh…normal One Flag IS four Rounds…my suggestion is just to make it two rounds.

I completely agree.

I should note that One Bomb could also benefit from this.

I like your idea but I think a draw should be a draw, just because someone got driven to the flag cap point doesn’t mean they’re a better team.

I think you might find that this video describes a great way to advance and improve CTF in Halo 4. It’s definitely worth a watch.

I agree except for the tie breaker. The scoreboard is all that matters.
