Now that the Boltshot is getting a well deserved range nerf, the only thing we have to worry about now is…
The DMR.
343i, thank you for realizing that this Pocket Shotgun was overpowered. Hopefully you can do the same with one more weapon…

This… Times a billion.
I don’t understand how people think DMR is OP. It’s SUPPOSED to be a long-range weapon, and it’s a 5-shot kill like the BR is. How is that OP?

You obviously haven’t taken the other statistics into account.

The DMR shouldn’t be able to beat the BR in close-mid range.
Yes
Close to mid range I chew up DMR users with the BR. If I were to nerf the DMR at all would be a slight reduction in aiming magnetism. I personally don’t have a problem with it.
“Lies for the weak. Beacons for the deluded.”
Sorry I actually agree but it works too well.
> If I were to nerf the DMR at all would be a slight reduction in aiming magnetism.
Aim assist & bullet magnetism should be abolished. I laugh every time someone boasts about their amazing ability to hit targets, despite the fact that the game is doing majority of the work for them.

Oh obviously. [sarcasm]
Look at the other thread. I’m not re-typing everything twice. It’s not OP. Plain and simple.
Done.

Depends who’s using it.
They’re both 5sk. If someone is skilled enough to use a non-sweep shot weapon (DMR) better at close range than someone using a ridiculously easy sweep weapon like the BR, which is MADE for close range, then they deserve to win the battle.
It’s a fact that the BR is easier to use at close range. But that doesn’t mean that BR should win EVERY close range battle. It depends on the user, as always.
Good example: BR vs Sniper. The sniper is much tougher to use at close range, but does that mean BR should win every time? Nope. If the person using the sniper is a more seller player and knows how to use his/her weapon, they deserve to win. Period.
The DMR is tougher to use at close range than the BR is for the vast majority of players. So if they can get to a point where they’re skilled enough to wield it at a range that it’s not meant for (like the sniper at close range) then so be it.
A long-range rifle will ALWAYS: a) be a more powerful rifle than a short/mid range rifle, and b) will always be tougher to use at close range, being that it’s not meant to be used as such.

I’m not trying to create a “OMG DMR IS OP” thread. Those can go in the Matchmaking thread.
The point is, it is more powerful than every precision weapon at any range. It’s a known fact that it is overpowered.
Done.

I agree, but the DMR has crazy bulletin magnetism, to the point where the reticule doesn’t need to be on the target for you to hit it. The DMR’s power isn’t an issue, in my opinion, the bullet magnetism needs to be toned down, so the reticule needs to be at least half on the target. Still room for error, each shot doesn’t need to be perfect to hit, but at close range it wouldn’t have a prayer, as it should be.

Been hoping the removal of the dmr since Reach but I doubt they would do anything about it.
The DMR isn’t that badly OP.
But it is SO -Yoink- versatile it makes any other weapon useless.
And its range is also a big problem.
On valhalla you only had to worry about the sniper, if you where around the hill, and the other team at their base.
In halo reach/4 people can kill you no matter the distance.
> b) will always be tougher to use at close range, being that it’s not meant to be used as such.
Unfortunately it is not tougher to use and it is used at that range, quite regularly.

I have faith that 343i actually will not do anything to the DMR or at worst, slow the shot rate down so it takes a little longer to kill someone.Anything more is not required.
the way it was originally released in reach was fine by me. with a very noticeable bloom effect that discouraged spamming the trigger. you had to keep calm and pace your shots effectively.
the big reason many complained about it then was that the factor of hit or miss had an element of randomness to it, with it’s range of failure growing as the bloom effect became larger.
now that we’ve got the carbine, DMR, BR and LR all packaged together, though, re-introducing that concept could be a very effective way to give the DMR it’s situational purpose and yet make room for the others to be of more use.
i’d really love to use the carbine or light rifle more, myself, but i find the DMR to be too universally awesome. In reach, that was fine since it was the only rifle of it’s kind, but in 4 (and future games, should they include this variety of choices), it nearly always feels like the weapon for the job to me.
i do play more BTB than 4 vs 4, though. i’m sure in more closed-quarter matches i’d be using the carbine or BR to better effect.
IMO the DMR should have been first, then the boltshot, cause then at least I would see people use other weapons, at least they started somewhere. I hit SR130 and have since stopped playing, partly due to the DMR, and just the “accessibility” of the whole game in general.

BR= toc toc toc toc toc.
DMR= toctoctoctoctoc.
Understand now?
