We’re seeing a lot of good games coming out lately. AC: Black Flag, GTA V, Watch_Dogs, Pokemon X/Y, etc.
These games are rising above the rest, winning awards, getting preorders, bathing in adoration. I just got done reading a bunch of news about Destiny on Bungie.net which brought me to thinking about 343. What they were doing. What they are currently doing. The official statement is supporting Halo 4 and developing Halo 5 but no news at all on the latter yet though.
As I finished with those mail sacks and weekly updates, I just hoped that 343 knows what to do from here. So, while GTA V is breaking records, while people are training new pokemon in X/Y, while people are getting pumped for Destiny, I’m hoping 343 is planning.
They’ve retreated for now into silence. Into darkness. Scheming and working incredibly hard. Halo 4 may have been disappointing in the end, people may have stopped playing it, but that just drives 343 all the more as they work in silence. Planning to blow these new games away. To return with a vengeance. To show everyone what a Halo game is truly about. Completeness. Customizability. Adventure. Story…
Fun.
I hope that one day, 343 will emerge and we will see something epic. Something that will more than make up for Halo 4. Something to challenge even Bungie on their throne.
But I guess… for now… one can only hope. It’s up to you, 343. Comebacks have been done before by lesser developers. You can do it too. Let us see it and we will make you great.

Most people I know have lost all faith in Halo 5, and are just renting it for Campaign. I think it might not have that many pre-orders either.
> Halo is far from over.
Yeah, Halo 4 was just the beginning. I am going to stick will Halo till the very end, and may the epic journey begin!
343i knows whats up by now. They’re prob making 5 incredibly epic and sick, even with multiplayer I bet.
Plus, Spielberg.
Oh I’m not done with Halo yet. I’m putting Halo 4 on the shelf for a while, but I’m not done with the franchise or 343.
I truly believe that Halo 5 will prove Halo 4 to be nothing more than a big experiment, a stepping stone to the next gen platform. Halo 4 was a whole lot of ideas put into a strainer. Some worked, many didn’t. Some will come back in a more polished form. Others will not come back at all. And let’s not forget the new stuff we haven’t even anticipated yet.
I’m not giving 343 a free pass for Halo 4, but I think the lessons learned were forged of a very strong steel. These lessons will propel a console. However, if it looks like the same mistakes of Halo 4 all over again, I might not even buy an Xbox One…

While I am quite excited for the future, many others view it this way:
The Reclamation has already begun…
And we are hopeless to stop it.
I can only see Halo rising from the ashes by having a writer do the equivalent of pulling a Gundam Unicorn.
I wish 343i would wait until 2015 to give us another iteration of the Halo franchise. I would much rather see a Halo 2: Anniversary for Xbox One in Q4 2014, pushing an easy Halo title onto the new console that they know people will love, then having plenty more development time for Halo 5.
That won’t happen though, and it’s incredibly unfortunate.

Can you comprehend the levels of awesomeness they’d have to ascend to to be able accomplish that?
Mind=blown
Sorry, but I’m sticking with the “I’m not convinced” crowd. Aside from the campaign Halo 4 was such a colossal wreck I fail to see how they’re going to come back from this. Again, they want their game to resemble old Halos as little as possible, as opposed to sticking to its roots and giving fans what they deserve. I’m thinking their next game will be just another noncompetitive and dull version of Reach with updated graphics and more COD fluff thrown in that we don’t want.
Seriously 343, Halos 2-3 were just about perfect. How anybody could f**k that up I’ll never understand.
> Were it so easy.
Life isn’t easy. Also pimping.
> I can only see Halo rising from the ashes by having a writer do the equivalent of pulling a Gundam Unicorn.
Ok then, what do you find wrong with the story?
> Were it so easy.
You’d think that it would be, with the success of the original games to build off of. I really think that 343 simply went overboard with trying to make Halo 4 “their Halo” and mimicking the mechanics of other successful shooters (namely Call of Duty).

Yeah, this.
With future Halo’s, I really hope they put less emphasis on making it “their Halo”, and more on just doing what seems right for Halo itself; whatever they consider that to be.
Making it drastically and unnecessarily different for the sake of it being “theirs” is a terrible decision in my opinion.

Agreed. I’ve said this a million times before, and I’ll say it again. The game is being made for the fans, and the developers need to focus on making them happy, rather than focus solely on bringing in new players. It’ll work out better for both them and us.
It’s not as if Halo is in need of a massive popularity boost. Each game beats the initial sales record of the next, and the franchise is as strong as ever.
I loved the halo 4 Campaign so I’m in for the next halo.
When they announced the trilogy I was -Yoink- now I have to stay till the end but I’m pleased with there talent. Multiplayer is not everything for me its the overall package and it was neat and satisfying and created some good and bad memories just like every other halo.
