One Big Forge World Or Many Smaller Ones?

What do you guys think? I think that a few smaller ones will take alot longer to get old. Having one large one will get stale quickly, because I think it isn’t the locations that get old but rather the style. So three very different aesthetically maps is what I’d much prefer over one massive map.

What about you guys?

A forge world full of variety unlike those stupid grey items. And then a few maps like Sandbox, foundry, ect.

I’d like on big map like reach, but why not have a few more islands each with different styles, one snow, one jungle, one space, and one sand

If smaller ones mean variety and still be able to make cool stuff with the environment, yes.

But if they can do what the guy above me says…then that.

I never really thought about that… Really good point, while i LOVE the forge feature, it did seem stale in reach even though we had sooooo many new tools. I just never got into it like i did in H3. The items in forge were pretty dull too and the scenery were all the same and it got very stale quickly. I feel multiple forgeable maps would be great. Its a great idea, or even if 343 goes the extra mile and finds a way to make every map have great forgeability… (doubt thats a word)

Foundry and Sandbox were great for Halo 3; two completely different atmospheres. I feel if we had 3 or 4 great forging maps forge and custom games would be 100x better. I loved how sandbox had three different layers within it, thats what we need in a single map.

Maybe have a few big ones with a variety of locations.

To me forge, world is useless without a customs games browser so they might as well set it up or dump it.

I want a full map editor that would start with a blank canvas.

One big, it’s fun to play in one part of forge world, the rode a falcon to the other, I love forged btb maps that use the entire forge world, like reds have canyon, Montana and alaska and blues have spawn bunker, the island, the pillar, nd the cave from island to canyon is no mans land, it’s really cool like that.

This would be great but i do believe its a little unrealistic in terms of our expectations.

What about one big one with a few smaller maps that are all great for forging?

  1. Forge world style, very large with multiple different places to go with different scenery
  2. Sandbox Style where theres three different levels to the map, skybox, ground floor, and underground
  3. 343i new style map?

Best of both worlds if we get a forge world and smaller sized map. Third one can be anything, im sure 343i has some surprises in store for us anyways

we need somewhere like 3 forge worlds with unique items. For multiplayer, they could get at least 16 maps off of it and thousands for custom games.

I think it would help the case for the one large one if it wasn’t 75% water. They can be more creative with the zone separation.

I would to have it snows, or rain, or fog. And the ability to place snow, or sand anywhere i want.

It would be AWESOME if we could add weather effects! Yea, we have lighting effects but most don’t do much. I wish we weren’t so limited like we could only use two lights in reach… Halo 3 we had 4, why should we be so limited when we have so many tools at our disposal.

Sweet weather effect could be:
-Fog
-Lightning Storm
-Heavy Rain
-Snow Storm

Also if we could add liquids, like we could put water in a map, lava, etc. (I can’t think of others)

Austin, that would be great, but thats asking alot man. I’m not sure that the 360 can handle all that data. Perhaps the next generation of consoles might be able to?

Not really. Far Cry 2 did it brilliantly and that wasn’t even built specifically for one piece of hardware like Halo 4 is.

If they can’t make multiple aesthetic styles in one Forge World, or if doing so would sacrifice frame rate/split screen/graphical quality, I’d vastly prefer multiple smaller Forge Worlds.

I didn’t realise there were islands in space…
I do get where your coming from though and I agree.

Phhft until i get options that rival 3D programmes such as Maya, 3DS Max and Vue 10 forge mode is nothing more than a bit of fun to me.
