So the idea of a Halo Wars sequel has been on my mind for a while. I have loved playing the original as it is a fun game to play, especially with friends. While thinking of the possibilities of a sequel being released I thought of possible changes, improvements and additions that could be done that may make the game more fun.
- Unit upgrade trees for certain units
My idea here is that you can upgrade units a certain way but you must choose what you want, for example lets take the covenant jackal. At the start you could build a standard un-upgraded jackal from a hall but you would have three initial upgrades to choose between, Sniper, Shield and Skirmisher. You would then have the ability to choose one of those upgrades, if you go with the sniper you would upgrade the range of your jackal and then a further upgrade would change its weapon to a beam rifle, the shield upgrade would give a jackal a shield and then make that shield un-collapsable, the skirmisher upgrade would change the speed of the jackals and allow them to run and then give them small arm shields to slightly buff their damage. You can buy all the upgrades to the jackals but each hall could only accomodate the building of one of those jackal types. You could switch the type of jackal at a hall but it would require time to switch, this would be similar to changing a turret from having a missile pod to having a rail gun (but without the cost)
- Custom game options
Various custom game options would be very nice, some examples are being able to change resource rates, starting buildings, starting base numbers and stuff such as that. This could be used to make custom games that start faster for those who are in a hurry or change the dynamic of a game for those who want a different experience.
- Test area
This could be a mode that you could select to see how certain battles would play out, you could choose any map and set up armies for up to six players, you would then assign an AI to each of the armies besides your own or even your own and then set waypoints for where the armies should move to. THis would allow players to test new strategies in ways that would allow them to tweak them without going through another game of setup.
- Flood or Forerunners as playable races
This is mainly to introduce new units, leaders and abilities into the game to enhance it.
