On Streamlined Playlists and Niche Gametypes.

So I know that 343 wants to streamline the playlists but what will that mean for more niche gamtypes like SWAT, Snipers, etc? Reach had fairly streamlined playlists at the start and that was actually a big problem for me and other players. When I look for a Team Slayer gametype I generally want to play a team slayer gametype with shields. I also know that even though Infinity slayer is really being pushed by 343, but I am doubtful it will be something I will play on a regular basis.

At the same timeI understand that there are a lot of players who really enjoy SWAT or might enjoy the Infinity Slayer experience. So I am wondering how 343 is going to balance between the two issues(not just SWAT obviously) or if anyone else has suggestions. More detailed player preferences/filters?

Any suggestions for playlist setups that might make everyone happy?

what do you mean by streamline and niche

Snipers will be in the SWAT playlist as SWAT snipers.

> what do you mean by streamline and niche

Streamline means “trim the fat”.

Niche means things that differ a lot from the core gameplay (Or are meant to cater to a different group than the mainstream). In Reach for example ZB Slayer DMR’s, MLG, SWAT, Snipers, Action Sack, Grifball, Squad DLC, Living Dead, etc. are all niche.

I’d be surprised if SWAT and Snipers weren’t their own playlists from the start.

They weren’t in Reach at the start and that was really annoying for me personally. I hated going into team slayer looking to play some basic slayer and always getting SWAT.

Well, I hope they keep the ordinary playlists, something like Halo 3 MM, but xtrip out the unnecessary/heavily niched ones that fail to top 100 players. If a playlist can’t even get 100 players simultaneously at any time during the day, double exp weekend or “action sack” might just be the way.

I wouldn’t be surprised if 343i just shoved SWAT and Snipers together into one playlist instead of separating them like they always have been. Both styles of play are pretty limited in terms of what you can do with them. They may as well do that and call it Team Headshot or something. That will garner the populations of both playlists and keep it at a steady but high count in Halo 4.

I just hope for Living Dead to have it’s own Playlist and have good gametypes/maps like H3 did. Almost all the maps/gametypes in REACH are terrible for L.D.
I actually miss Safe Havens.

I could care less about streamlining playlists. I’ll just quote myself quoting myself:
