I was just wondering what the general consensus on how often one she be able to disconnect, while still expecting respect? I used to rage quit alot, and sometimes it was a ridiculous laggy game, or I suspected somebody of cheating (which I wont deny, I have a bad habit of automatically accusing people of such)
I’m just wondering. is it wrong to leave a game when you feel frustrated because the mechanics seem to not work right? or when the match is really lagtastic? do I leave matches way to often? I think my Finish to dnf is 1028 to 127.
I think a 10% quit ratio is understandable.
What do you mean “mechanics seem to not work right”?
I used to quit a lot if I was losing badly, got a lopsided JIP or the lag was really bad. Since learning the lobby back out feature, I rarely quit since I can manually choose not to play the games I would’ve quit from anyways.

Like being upset that entire are camping with boltshots and active camo, spawnkilling, jetpacking fulerods that sort of thing. like stuff that doesn’t seem very fair, but happens most of the time anyway
I understand quitting if the connection makes the game unfair or if there are signs of legitimate cheating on the other end.
But actual “ragequitting,” quitting because you’re upset about the outcome of a game, I have no respect for. You’re mad because you’re losing - it’s a game where you win or lose. Get over your -Yoinking!- self.
I would say about 5%, but I know that is somewhat extreme. I have about 3%, and I know for a fact that most of those are from lag, or being dropped completely from the game. Also I will occasionally play with a friend who likes to quit if the game is not going her way.
I will not even quit if I am the last player. The way I figure it I might be able to learn something about patience, timing, and strategy. I really don’t like to quit.
Anything over 7.97 is despicable.
I’ve had the worst luck, running into two dudebros abusing each other, and making Halo 4 feel less like a game but more like a social cockfight (no, no hidden euphemisms there I mean it, but that’s as nice as I can put it.). If it isn’t people like me who speak through text, our “MVP” is vocally slammed.
Lately I’ve been in a bad spell and could use some actual effort from my team mates, the lack of teamwork isn’t what makes me quit but the way it can immediately determine the games outcome…
In other words I don’t want to play a One-Versus-Four when I really don’t need/want to.
Habitually Irate People, if you have a job to go to, maybe this isn’t the best way to pass the time. Let Halo be a game for others.

Now I fully understand why JIP was implemented. Its so people can rage quit whenever they want and no hard feeling since someone will take their place.
The only acceptable quitting is if your connection is Yoinked.
I only quit due to bad lag. Like when i shoot someone twice in the head with a sniper rifle and they keep running, then for some reason i die and my body warps around the map. Then i leave.
Happens alot being in Australia with no dedicated servers…
I do try to keep sore looserness in check. I’m not saying I never had a fit and left, But that I try to avoid such a display. I like to think I can take a fair loss. but there have been times when It just was not worth it to me to finish. now I usually just try harder.
It’s a video game. It’s for fun. If you’re not having fun, then you quit.
Why does this thread exist?
I was lookin at my stats and realized I had quit alot of games. I was interested in a healthy conversation about when it is too much, and when it is understandable. yeah your right though, it is just a game. its just also a hobby I care about enough to take semi seriously.
Rage quitting?
You mean the act of playing a game and becoming so filled with rage because of your own poor performance compared to the other players, but won’t actually admit it’s your own fault. That you quit the match and then optionally proceed to mute the sinners who put you down and/or give them bad rep, alternativley filing a complaint against them for their bio, motton, communication, cheating and so forth?
You’ll earn no respect from me even if you only quit the game because you got angry. Truthfully, I laugh a little. The more stuff you do from that list, the more I laugh. And even more if you bad mouth me.
Quitting becuase of lag and so forth I don’t really count towards rage quitting because it’s outside your own controll.

But the system is flawed. I have been in uneven matches where the players left in the lobby, and my team still did not get a replacement for the whole game. Or on the other side of the spectrum where I have joined past the halfway point, and come out of it with a loss.
I don’t think using JIP as an excuse for quitting is okay, because the game is still negatively impacted. Both teams are usually waiting in the blackscreen for a replacement, or the one who replaces has to start from behind.
Basically no fun for anyone.

I mistakenly used the term Rage quit as a blanket term to cover Dissconecting midgame as a whole. and I apologize.

This guy gets it.

Ah, yeah…no, I completely disagree; neither one of you gets it. If we were to go by that rationale than all games would be quit fests. Who here has fun when they are losing ? Ummmmm, I’m going to go out on a limb here and say, absolutely no one. Okay, maybe absolute is a little strong in this case. Since there are kids out there with their sole purpose in the game is to betray, and go negative, and they have loads of fun. So minus those kids, since they aren’t quitting anyway.
Still if we all went the route of, “oh I’m losing now and not having fun so I will quit no biggie”, what kind of matchmaking experience, in general, is that going to make? Not a good one I am certain.
Yes, it is a video game, but why can we not ask for good sportsmanship and decency as well? Maybe I take things too serious. Maybe I am asking too much of most players, since a lot are young, immature, and only want to have FUN. I don’t care. I treat players on my team and the other team how I want to be treated, with respect; and I my reality of Halo that means finishing games.
Stop playing not to lose, and play just to play. Even if you are getting trounced, and are in a ridiculously lopsided match, just play, then watch it in Theater. See what those players did to beat you and your team so severely. Don’t play just to have fun, play to challenge yourself, see if you can come back. See if you can improve from the loss.
sigh I know this won’t change a habitual quitter’s mind, but I just want to play and I run into so many quitters out there it is more than ruining the game.

…Wait, what?
EDIT: Okay, there you go, that definitely makes more sense.
