Halo, in nearly all of it’s playlists, is a team game. Playing with headsets and being able to communicate is a key skill, and 2 teams going head to head is really a game of skill and teamwork.
I’m used to playing with friends and shouting ‘On my X!’ , ‘One hit, my X!’ etc.
Halo 4 doesn’t have X’s, markers to my allies deaths…
And yes we should learn call outs and we are, but it’s only half the story.
Not having this feature removes an element of team work, communication and ultimately skill. Bring this back 343. For me it’s a deal breaker.

> Call outs?
You see 2 enemy players at rocket spawn you call it out to your teammates, but in this game even that is hard to do just as my X.
I haven’t given much thought to whether the removal really enhances the gameplay, so maybe I am really just stuck in the past on this one, but I agree that we should have this brought back. It gave more specific information than a call out without the need for every player to mic up in a game.
In a perfect world I’ll be in slayer with a group of 4 people and we will communicate, but even then the Xs were a welcome addition.
Even assuming everyone on the team knows what you’re talking about in your Call Out you can’t argue that verbal communication is faster than and instant indicator of where a team mate just died. It’s the most annoying thing about this game and why I try to avoid playing by myself as much as I can. This game is very hard to enjoy without proper communication. No one uses mics anymore, not just in Halo but every game on the XBOX. Halo was a less frustrating shooter because of that simple X.
I don’t know what points you could even bring up to justify taking it out of the game. “Oh it made it too easy for players to determine the location of the enemy players.” Yeah? Then why place kill cams into this game?
I’m disappointed by this too. Don’t know why in the world they removed it. The x still appears on radar, but if you’re too far away you obviously don’t see it.
Sorry but saying “Learn your call outs” “Adapt lol ur bad” simply shows a lack of understanding for Halo as a shooter and the current state of Halo 4 multiplayer.
Not trying to flame, but you’re just coming off as ignorant.
5% (if that) of the Xbox live community uses a microphone. How am I supposed to get a call out from these random players I’m forced to play with? Should I wait for them to send me a text message?
That death indicator is what made Halo bearable to play when your usual team of friends isn’t online. To simply white knight for it’s removal as a good thing is hilariously stupid Halo 4 fanboy talk.
