On and off switch a neccessity, sprint,pv etc

I am not sure if this has been covered however I want to make this point. It took a long time for Reach to have customizable options to strip the game down to basics. Only once 343 took over did we get the option to remove or reduce bloom.

There is a portion of the community that likes Halo to be simple. Simply starting with a gun, shield and nades. In order to do this 343 must give us the ability to turn off all the “enhancements” to the game.

Quick list of things that need to have an on and off switch:

  • Sprint
  • Promethean Vision
  • Load outs (jetpack, camo etc.)
  • Specializations
  • Ordinance drops
  • Bloom
  • anything else?

I am not saying that playing with all of these elements included wouldn’t be fun. I am saying that the ability to play a simple version of Halo is also fun and the way many people like it. The people who want to play the game with all of the new stuff in it win and so do the traditional players. Win Win…always good.

Just because I believe in it very strongly I am going to add that a visible ranking system is also very important

You don’t have to worry about bloom on the weapons you’d use for your preferred way to play, turning it off isn’t a worry.
Everything else, yes it’s all toggle-able.

A classic playlist will be available at launch, so yes you will be able to play the old Halo you know and love.

But hey, who doesn’t like afew new gadgets to mess around with eh?

I agree with OP. I also agree with visible raking, but it wont happen because of cheating. I think 343 went with rank by play time rather than skill because of cheaters/boosters.

Let’s see:

Sprint: You could not use it at all, but if you not use it in gametypes where you may need it, you are in a world of hurt.

PV/Loadouts: You can make a classic loadout with just guns and grenades. There is a “None” option for AAs and Armor Mods.

Specializations: They aren’t very much of a problem unless you hit level 50. Even then, you still have to level up your Specializations to the 10th level until you can unlock the Armor mod for it, the rest is just armor, skins, and emblems. Even then, you don’t have to put the unlocked Armor Mod in your loadout.

Ordinance Drops: Will only be in Infinity Slayer/Gametypes.

Bloom: What thy ReaperMC said in his post above me.

343i has stated many times that they are adding a ton of customization in custom game options. Expect most, if not all, of the stuff you mentioned to be able to be toggled. There’ll also be classic playlists for you to enjoy online if you want a stripped-down version of the game.

You missed the point on this one. Everyone should not have it if it is turned off. The only real problem I have with sprint is the way it allows people to quickly run into a battle when they are across the map. This takes away from strategic positioning.

But since everyone does have it, along with a few tweaks from the Reach version, turning it off would leave you at a disadvantage.

The idea is to be able to turn it off for everyone in the game…

Then you might want to head on over to the Classic playlists. They aren’t going to turn off Sprint in the Default playlists or Infinity playlists, but they may or may not have a toggle option for it, but you must toggle it off at your own risk.

I’m saying, if you want a classic experiance where you only start off with guns and grenades, and everybody has no sprint, make agametype in customs and invite some friends, or go to the classic playlist.

Im sure we will be able to customize all this and even more. However there is only visual bloom in the game so no need to turn that off.
