Ok I just finished reading Primordium…AND I AM CONFUSED!! First off 75% of the book is WALKING. I was so bored.
Then the mind -Yoinks!- started when the humans got into that Forerunner boat and ran off a cliff? Then they were all in a giant spiderweb with a mobile city? And they were all in some grassy area eating food. Then they’re all naked and talking to Monitors. And if I’m guessing this right, Chakas went to the Silent Cartographer and linked up with a Flood Infected Forerunner and controlled the Halo ring while the planet went through it?
And the Precursor is not actually a precursor but is a Gravemind and that the Flood created humans for some test?
If you know the sections I’m talking about please type up what really happened. My head hurts from the confusion.

Take an aspirin and sleep on it. It will either make sense in the morning or you won’t get it at all. That’s how Greg Bears books work for me.
You don’t understand till you read it, why… why they call it the book of madness.
Yeah, it is a rather confusing book isn’t it. I’m nearly finished though. But despite that it’s amazing, and I love Primordium.
If there’s any bits you really need clarifying, then just detail it out to me, and hopefully I can help ya out.
And Arcane Celt, who started this book of madness? Why is everyone calling it that?! Or is it just a forum nickname.
I am the one who started calling it the book of madness. It is a book of madness, that is why. It is what it is, madness.
Even the walking was madness. Personally, I was not bored with the walking. I was not bored at all, just hopefull that the book of madness was not going to end. It too me about 8 hours to consume.
Yeah. Everything after the whole “Fake humans” ordeal just got confusing as hell.
It was impossible to visualize what exactly was going on up until Didact busts in. There was a trolley. Or something. WIth walls that appeared/dissapeared? And then it was full of flood that they didn’t see? Then there was the smell of food. Whaaaaaaaaaat. Then the last 5% made sense. Chakas was being used to control the Halo (through the forerunner flood guided him). Didact busts in and finds a half dead Chakas and turns him into a monitor. Named Guilty Spark. Then they go talk to primordial. Primordial was trolling them all along and Didact gets pissed and evaporates it.
Tis really an extended essay not a novel, all the mystical wandering just bores me now, tell us the facts and leave all the second guessing out of things. Just seems like a disguise for badly formed ideas.
Boring!!
