Dude are you F****** serious! Why are so many so called “Halo” fans throwing 343i under the bus by saying “Your game sucks.” or “I am never gonna play this game again.” Why is that? Don’t they know that this is 343i first full Halo title that they completely build without Bungie holding their hand for them. Look I am 22 yrs. old and I have been playing Halo since the beginning and all of the games I have played were awesome…well except for Reach. But besides that people just need to give 343i a chance. I love Halo 4 and I am a COMPETIVE person when it comes to Halo. Now I know that there are a lot of things that 343i should have implemented in H4 but they didn’t. Like visible ranks for the competive, smaller maps, and fixing the File Share system…etc. I mean come on every single individual who plays halo no matter if they are competive of casual gamer knows what 343i need to fix, and that we as a community need to inform the problems to them. But we don’t have to be -Yoink- bags in telling them and saying they are not listening to us. I know for a fact they are going to change these problems, we just need to be patient and keep playing Halo 4 to support 343i.
That’s all I have to say for now and this is just my opinion on it and how I feel about it.
They have my 65.00 and so far I have a game that actually is missing more options, vehicle, and is for all purposes a beta. Reach, ODST, and Halo 3 retails for 19.99 and have more replayability than the newest installment on the 360 in its current state… Especially for Non Gold Live Members.
There is more but it’s been so rehashed what’s the point of listing it.
Are you also including the fact that you CAN’T play multiplayer online without the new map packs?

What
Since when was this a thing?
If you’re being serious, then jesus christ that’s awfulbad.
Nah, you see it gets very old very quickly when you die to the DMR and the BS (no pun intended) combo. That and the bad maps are everything that is wrong with this game. They fix that, then I’ll give them a break.
Sad truth is they probably won’t, 343 will only impress me if they make halo 2 anniversary at this point.

I thought is was a joke too…
I have friends without the DLC maps. Before they join I can play matchmaking games no problem. When they join me, we get ‘kicked’ out of the matchmaking search process 9/10 times.
Customs work fine with no lag, campaign the same thing, and when we do get a matchmaking game… that works as well. Its not the network, I know how to computer.

WOAH RED FLAG OP, whadda ya mean Reach was bad? Don’t throw Bungie unda da bus, they didn’t even want to make that game and it came out okay - unlike H4.

If a game developer makess a good game, they should acknowledged of it, and if they make a bad game they sould be criticized. I dosen’t matter if it is their first og fourth game.

I don’t want to go to work but I still manage to do a good job…
It’s no excuse.
When 343/Bungie fail people make up 100 excuses for them. When they succeed it’s just because they are Gods apparently… pretty sad fanboyism.
Ermagherd!!! All halo fans are supposed to adore all halo games and not criticize the developers for producing a low quality game that had so much potential. I rather not settle for anything less, throw in the towel to stay silent.

To be fair, Bungie’s first Halo game was absolutely amazing, it didn’t take them more than one try to get it right.
If you can’t do something right the first time, why do it?
The reason they did Anniversary first was to get a feel for Halo wasn’t it? That and they VASTLY improved Reach by creating the TU ON THEIR OWN.
So how did they manage to make the TU, and Anniversary Slayer on Reach, which were both major improvements, proving that Halo was better at it’s roots then all Reachified. And then make such a HUGE mistake as doing the EXACT OPPOSITE of what the Community wanted and create a more chaotic, more random, and somewhat more noob friendly game than Reach?
I think there are alot of reasons Halo 4 is much better than Reach, and if it wasn’t for the chaos, random, and hand-holding features in this game I’d say it was better in every possible way. But they dropped the ball on some really important sections of the game.
I was hoping changing hands would save Halo, it was obvious to me that Bungie was runing out of “god-developer” juice, especially with Reach. And 343i promised to bring Halo to it’s roots and give us the true Halo experience, claiming to be fans of Halo CE, 2, and 3. And most importantly TRYING TO FIX REACH.
And yet this is what we get, after our patience, our waiting, and our praise for the TU, Anniversary, Forward Unto Dawn, and some of the best Halo books since the post Ghost of Onyx Halo novel dry-spell.
343 deserves no sympathy. I had a drill sergeant in the Army who could tell them exactly where to find sympathy in the dictionary.
343 Industries IS Microsoft. They were founded by and are a wholly owned subsidiary of Microsoft. A good way to think of it is that they are simply the right hand of Microsoft that has to do everything Microsoft wants them to do. They have no say in squat. All they do is write the code, Microsoft is in charge and makes all the decisions.
Since they were created by the world’s largest software company, there’s really no excuse for what they did.
Bungie handed them full control of Reach in August of 2011. And then they ruined it with that God awful title update that tried to cater to every little kid.
With Reach, 343 was handed a completed project that all they had to do was maintain. It’s like they were given a completed nuclear aircraft carrier that had already been to sea trials, already been to a few real deployments, all they had to do was maintain the dang thing and fix anything that might break down the road.
And what did they do?
They took off the propellers, rudders, and tore up and rebuilt the flight deck all because they weren’t precisely the way some new seaman 3rd class wanted them. And they did it while underway at sea.
Halo 4? All their problems boil down to wanting the largest profit margins possible.
When they built the USS Halo 4 they waited too long to hire all the ship builders they would need in order to keep their pay roll as low as possible as long as possible to keep their over head as low as possible as long as possible to maximize their profit margin.
Although they could have started construction of the USS Halo 4 in 2007, they waited until the last possible second to hire all the ship builders they needed.
This caused two problems that magnified each other. They didn’t give their ship builders enough time to familiarize themselves with one another, or the project.
Well, they had to launch the ship no matter what on 06 NOV 12 so they decided to skip sea trials (a public beta) so they could at least have a hull in the water that could move under its own power in time.
So their nuclear aircraft carrier floats, has a working propulsion system and a working point defense system. But it’s catapults, recovery wires, and aircraft elevators still aren’t on line, despite having the USS Reach to copy from! They made an awesome looking aircraft carrier that can’t recover or launch aircraft.
Halo 4:
-
No website based file share, I still don’t understand why they can’t just copy the code that makes Reach’s work. Sure, Bungie coded it, but Microsoft owns the IP, so they can use it. Time to set the Hubris aside, admit that Bungie is better than you 343, and use that CTRL C and CTRL V combo to copy Bungie’s code to get your game working.
-
No website based video rendering, again, this time in 2010, I could render clips of Halo 3 on line. Not in Halo 4!
-
Highly limited console based file share
-
No theater for campaign or SpOps
-
Limited customs options
-
Remaining on P2P networking, seriously?
-
No public beta, which would have found many of these issues.
-
No private community support here on Waypoint.
-
Employees don’t participate in their own forums, except BS Angel who was hired specifically for that. Bungie employees post on B.Net. 343 employees only post on Neogaf.
-
Bulletins totally ignore issues save for the last one, and it still ignored the file share and CSR ranking system.
-
Selling an incomplete product
343 is a multi-million dollar corporation that is owned and founded by a multi-billion dollar corporation. There is no reason for a consumer to feel bad for them. I assure you, nothing we post in these forums will emotionally scar a 343 employee to the point that a quick glance at their bank account balance won’t make them fully recovered and happy again.
Bungie was an independent company before its time with Microsoft. It invented and owned Halo before Microsoft bought both of them. Bungie sacrificed the Halo IP, left it with Microsoft, and gave Microsoft buckets of cash to be its own company again. As a consumer, that should tell you something.
Bungie’s Destiny will be out before Halo 5. It will most likely be out before 343 ever figures out how to actually finish Halo 4 Beta. I know what game developer will be getting my gaming dollars. It will be the one that actually has large fully open public betas to test its games and sells completed products to consumers.
A few days ago I had a rant on how I thought 343 ruined halo, but I’ve totally changed about that. You can’t expect 343 to create the best halo ever after doing nothing but beefing up haloCE- before they came out with halo anniversary they said they hadn’t touched the gameplay, so abviously they didn’t want to upset hard core halo fans, however with halo4 they were taking a risk with making a pretty different story. They will probably look at what people are saying and make sure they don’t make the same mistakes, however if they do and halo5 isn’t the best either then let’s start criticizing them.

They didn’t do that much work on CEA themselves, Sabre Interactive did.
Give them a break?
Did Microsoft say, “Oh lets lower the price of the game because its their first game”
You make it sound like we all got the game for free and should be appreciative of what we have. No, we paid $60 for this game that was a disappointment to myself.
Also, learn how to use paragraphs.

lol you wern’t supposed to take that seriously.
I will however say that Bungie released a fully featured and functioning game on September 14, 2010. And although not to many peoples taste did exactly what it said on the tin. Unlike back to the roots Failo 4.
You said they made this without a helping hand from Bungie? Wrong.
Bungie supplied the engine.
The lore.
And in the pre-development stage they even gave tips to the early development teams.
Not to mention forge was made by Certain Affinity. And the maps were made by another studio. And the CGI cut scenes were made by another studio.
When you really think about it, 343 did very little in their three+ years of work.
