Please reply what your old rank was before reset and what you got ranked in as … I’m curious!

Ha I was just about to make this topic, just checking noone else had first and this is super recent.
I have been out all evening so haven’t played ranked yet. I’ll probably do my 10 games on the weekend.
Will be very surprised if I don’t rank immediately into Diamond 5. I’d like to hear how other people’s ranks have been affected though.

I was Gold 2 before and I re-ranked to Silver 2.
During the 10 game unranked ranking period - I lost most of the matches due to horrible lag and desync issues and other matches due to players not playing objective and going for kills instead. Finally the cherry on top was players dropping from the game leaving myself and remaining teammates outnumbered making a bad situation worse.
Frankly I’m surprised I wasn’t de-ranked even lower. It is really hard to get into this game when what I see on my screen is not actually happening. I’m constantly experiencing massive lag. Being a Canadian living in Manitoba, I am not any where close to any servers.
My best connection to Halo is always a lagged one, even though I have 1 Gbps symettrical fiber Internet to the home. I know it’s not my network, I’m a network engineer by trade. I do not have this problem with other multi-player games to this degree. I’m not saying I don’t experience lag with other games, but it’s never THIS BAD.

Remember that your curve is still volatile post placement so you have plenty of time to rank up if you are good enough.

It’s just that it doesn’t matter if they reset the ranks over and over again. If the server problems are not solved, some players will continue to play in good conditions and others will continue to suffer from the usual problems.
The end is that most of the players in the USA play in better conditions (among them) and reach a level similar to what they had before. And the rest of the world will go limping as far as it can and will arrive more or less at the same place where it was.
As long as server selection is not possible and games are stable, rank will reflect conditions of service more than skill.
And we will continue to see the 50-10 and 10-50 markers forever. No one goes from playing that well to playing that bad in consecutive games while being in similar ranks.
And this is not going to be fixed.

That’s a very definite mindset on something that they are actively trying to solve.
First time I ranked in at Platinum 3 but had a dodgy jump button and a drifting left analogue stick.
Second time round I played the ten games on a 50 inch tv and got Platinum 1.
Personally I think I play better with the dodgy controller and a monitor.
However my brother ranked in at diamond 1 first time around but second time round he ranked in at Diamond 5. Which I can only account that knowing the game better trumped the stiff ranking system.
Edit: last night we lost most our games played with a complete beginner and didn’t really take the game seriously.
Which says to me winning doesn’t matter on the first 10 games considering my brothers diamond 5, my Platinum 1 and my mates Gold 3.
They changed the minimum starting rank from D1 to D5.
What we can tell from that is your brother’s rank at the moment is at least D5.
You would all have gone into the placement games with your old MMR.
Your skill curves would have been widened (made more volatile) but they would still be moving from those initial baselines.
So winning does matter.
There are other weightings - such as kill rates - which help the system find your rank faster. So this would also influence your brother > you > your mate.
But you still need to win to push the direction of your MMR.

It makes a lot of sense that we were all ran off our old MMR - although I must have smashed my MMR dosing about since I put it up to mid Diamond back in Jan to go down to plat 1.
But on a side note…. Seems silly to reset your CSR and not readjust your MMR….
But we don’t know for certain what they did and how the MMR is behaving now to before.
I was going to go play the Witch Queen last night… might have to put it off a week to see what happen here… out comes the monitor

So, what the new Ranked Rewards for reaching Onyx?
Onyx in Open. Diamond 6 in Controller.
I’m guessing nothing as we’re still in Beta Season1.
I’m not sure when you complete a challenge at the end of the game when your rewards pop up it says season 2.
My guess is they didn’t know how to extend the season so they made up some rubbish about resetting the ranks and update but actually the game just moved into season 2!
my question is why would i be considered two different ranks if i play the same in both ranked playlists? im diamond 4 in open right now and placed plat 4 in solo even though i performed the same as in open why no diamond in solo? it makes 0 sense
I’m guessing player population spread and relative MMR.
