Old Music Coming Back?

Not sure if this is the appropriate place to post this, but I really don’t like that Halo 4 doesn’t at least have the classic Halo theme. Not that I don’t like the new scores, but I do believe they should have at least kept the original theme as well.

I remember seeing an early official promo for Halo 4, and hearing the choir “ah’s” in the tune of the theme song. Granted, it was at least an octave lower than the actual theme, but it still sounded good. Why was that never used?

I honestly think that the song gave the games more of a “Halo feel.” Here’s to hoping Halo 5 has the original theme. Anyone else miss hearing it, and agree here?

Composer opening when we see the halo.

What if the classic halo theme… Was actually a gene song code?

Could you imagine John and others just start doing the halo theme at some point and it activating something?

In some parts of the 117 track, there were glimpises of the Halo Theme, but as Niel isn’t Marty, and he can’t just go and copy his style, we’re gonna have to settle with the new music, which isn’t bad in my opinion, it has some very good tracks, some even on my 10 favorites of all time.

Except that it was Kazuma Jinnouchi that wrote 117, not Neil.

I find that Kazuma’s songs generally have a much more Halo feel to them than Neil’s work, yet still different enough to stay fresh and interesting for the new trilogy.

The guy who wrote the original music is a Bungie employee.

I do not think its legally possible currently for them to use it, and probably had to pay out the -Yoink- just for that one measure of singing.

They own the rights to halo and everything concerning it. It’s how they used the halo theme when we saw the third ring in halo 4.

As negative as I can be about halo 4 I actually think it got the soundtrack right. I like it.

I was really disappointed by the lack of the original theme in Halo 4. It’s an iconic track that should be implemented at least once every game. I also would like the annoying Arab lady in the main menu to be replaced by the monks, that horrible shrieking noise she makes is enough to make my ears bleed.

This is brilliant.

OP, usually i turn on the Halo: CE/CEA or Halo 3: ODST OST whenever i play Halo 4. I too am not really fond of the music in 4. Too nostalgic.

That would be cool.

I’d love for more for more original Halo themes to make it into Halo 5. Halo 4’s music was too generic.

The only problem with that is that Regret was effectively chanting it in sermons to his troops on Delta Halo.

And Sacred Icon…had the same thing, only this one included instruments.

It would have been nice to have the old theme, chief’s theme. It would help ease the transition between bungie and 343, and welcome back old fans of the series with something familiar.

Of course, like most of the stuff in this game, 343 just wants to -Yoink- on the old fans in a pathetic attempt to cash in on the cod fad, so no, it’s not coming back.

I hope not. I’ve been listening to that music for the last 10 years. The music in Halo 4 is amazing. It’s about time the music and the game itself is finally changing. I 'm so tired of the people who constantly yap about wanting to live in the past.

I want new content, new gameplay and a new experience in my favorite franchise. It’s time to move on people.

I miss the song a pale horse banshes flying sky high.

When doing a cover or remix of a song, you need to ask permission of the song’s legal owner, which could be the writer, publisher, or some other person who wrote the music. Microsoft owns Halo, and most likely the game’s music through it. Thus, I doubt that they had any problems with needing to pay Marty to reuse any of the original music, which they did a fair amount, by the way. Don’t forget that they also had a remake of “Never Forget” on the soundtrack, as well as some cues from the old music in some of the new songs (main menu theme, To Galaxy, etc.).
