i noticed in the halo 2 anniversary epilogue cutscene (can be found on youtube or the halo channel through the mcc main menu) that spartan locke was holding the old halo 3/2 battle rifle. now i can easily see this being for continuity reasons, as all the other cutscenes use older models to fit in with the in game gun models, but do you think this could mean there are different appearances for the br? weve already seen the new one intended to be in the beta, but could this mean perhaps different factions have different versions of weapons? it isn’t too far fetched, the prophets bane energy sword is a unique version of an existing weapon, perhaps there will be other legendary weapons like a unique halo 2 styled br, or a halo 1 pistol, for use in custom games and multiplayer. thoughts?
Maybe Locke just prefers the the war-era version. Spartan-IVs choose their own equipment (at least it seems that way), and Locke is ONI, so it stands to reason that he can choose his own gear.
