Okay... so how much is it?

IGN released information regarding the Battle Pass today, however it seems no information regarding its price has been announced.

EDIT: There is brief mention of “putting ten dollars in,” so I guess it’s $10. That would align with the price of other Battle Passes as well.

10 bucks would seem about right, hardly think they would even mention that if they didn’t know already how much it was.

If so, that’s a fair price all in all

Read this briefly and still don’t understand it. Seems like it’s $10 for a single Battle Pass, so per Season. That’s $40 per year.

I can’t believe we’ve hit the point where we are ok with this, lol. Just because it’s better than other systems. Hopefully, at the least, you can alternatively unlock the Battle Pass without paying, which I could not tell if that was possible from my brief reading of the article.

My motivation to continue playing, however, always decreases when it becomes costly or time-consuming to progress.

I mean we used to pay 40 bucks for DLC packs with halo and often times they would be filled with similar items. I remember buying the physical halo 2 multiplayer map pack game for 25 bucks when it came out lol (which sits on my shelf to this day). And you can’t tell me that was anymore valuable then these 10 dollar battle passes.

You don’t need to keep buying them though, just buy one if you want to wear some of the armour in it. I haven’t put points into every pass in MCC because I didn’t want the armour in them, and I think I’ll probably buy 1 or 2 passes a year at most if they have new pieces of armour I want. Think of each pass as a DLC armour pack, it’s $10 for the pack, buy if you want, skip if you don’t.

It’s not like battlepassrs expire, might get occasional one, not too fussed with cosmetics as happy with free one’s for now

For starters, you only need to buy them if you want the content in them. As well, each battle pass will have a number of free items, and can be progressed all the way to the end before you buy it. At which point if you want the paid items from them, you can buy the battle pass at any time and it will unlock all of the “non-free” levels you’ve reached instantly. What helps this along as that they never go away. You can buy the Season 1 Reach battle pass in 2023 if you suddenly decide you want to wear Jorge’s helmet.

Basically it’s about as consumer friendly as a system like this can get, and what it means is that all non-cosmetic post launch multiplayer content, like new maps, game modes, special events, and the like, will all be completely free. Otherwise they’d just be selling map packs like they used to.

Basically: Progression is free, since you can complete a Battle Pass track without needing to buy it and will still reap all the free rewards. But most of the cosmetics wont be available to you if you don’t buy the pass. So just buy the ones that have content you really want, and ignore buying the ones that have stuff you don’t plan to wear anyway. Or just keep playing for free and enjoying all the free stuff in the passes.
