Okay imagine this...

Okay imagine this…

1. Halo Infinite’s first mission takes place on the (on the run) Infinity, it’s a real throw back into CE mission “The Pillar of Autumn”. The mission could even be named “The Infinity / To I Infinity and…”.

In the mission the supposed base of operation for the entire campaing, the UNSC flagship Infinity, fights valiantly, launching all it’s frigates etc. The UNSC ends up gaining the upper hand, but through sudden 3rd party interference the slip space begins to act weird, and UNSC Infinity with most of it’s crew is swallowed into the unknown regions of the Galaxy. They are now MIA for the remaining human resistance.

2. Somehow it would be neat to visit Reach: Scavenging some OG UNSC gear and vaging guerilla warfare on the former military world doesn’t seem too far fetched for a mission or two.

3. A short transition mission with some unique mecanics would be nice here… We end up trying to board a Halo, a landing on the most tactical asset in the entire galaxy seems certain…Then a slip space rupture out of nowhere…

4. … coming out of slip space we are met with the most terrifying yet also the single most majestic set piece yet to grace the Halo franchise… a Halo ring now co-orbits the Earth with the Moon in perfect harmony, yet everyone understands that this is a gun pointed at the head of the human race.
The latter part of the campaing takes part here: on the Earth, on the Moon and on the mysterious Halo ring… but the true finale only begins when all the story pieces click together:
With all the campaing factions rallying on the burning human home world things seem desperate, suddenly the missing UNSC Infinity bursts out of slip space, for a moment the tide of the battle seems to turn… but then something terrifying unravels: The ship is infested with flood!
Now flood controlled Infinity makes for the the planet, and infected pelicans swoop down from it’s belly to infect all the factions… this whole thing is a big messy trap, a trap stinking of plague and death.
Just before entering the Earth’s orbit the remaining UNSC mac defence platform cut through their former flagship’s hull, sending it crashing down on the Halo ring… Just before the crash a disturbing voice echoes through every communication device in the sol: “I am the monument to all your sins!”
The presence of their ancient enemy triggers the so far friendly Forerunner sentinels into madness, the whole ring is now a huge death sentence to any UNSC or Covenant forces present.
As the Infinity lies burning on the surface of the Halo, the present Master Chief instantly recognizes the foul fog emitting into the sky… He tries to warn any squads from entering the crash site, but the local communications are jammed, something is wrong with the air. John begins to make for the crash site himself in order to rally a warning and is soon contacted by a seemingly still alive and well voice of captain Laskey… (we all know where this one’s headed… lets get some F’s in the chat for our boi Laskey)

I don’t have anything specific in mind on how to fit these places into a cohesive story, nor do I know what enemies would suit each location the best (the Flood, the Covenant/the Banished feel like a must tho) These are just some cool set pieces I’d love to see included somehow!
(Tho Doctor Katharine Halsey, 343 Guilty spark, Captain Laskey, the Arbiter and John 117 leading the Blue team should all be major players in the story!

How did you like my little fanfic?

PS. The adventures of the missing UNSC Infinity would make for an amazing flood spin off game later on… Just saying.

100% True

  • Since the Discover Hope trailer is confirmed to be the opening to the game, that is HIGHLY unlikely, if not, impossible; - For what real purpose? This idea of returning to Reach just sounds pointless. It’s a glassed planet that only meant something for Humanity (being their fortress in the stars), but is totally insignificant in the Created conflict; - What are your goals here? I’m struggling to understand what you’re trying to tell. - Truly would be an unique set-piece. THAT would be interesting to see, although the Guardians are enough. Like Exuberant said, a single Guardian is effectively able to police a solar system. Having a Guardian overwatching Earth would suffice.
Ok but how? How would the Flood even get in the Infinity in the first place? That would mean that there was an outbreak somewhere, and even then, the Infinity has fireteams specifically meant to deal with the Flood. Some MP armors were meant to fight the parasite. And if Halo Wars: Genesis taught us something, is that a Spartan can deal with a Flood outbreak in a ship, let alone the Infinity being full of them, especially the afro-mentioned specialized fireteams. So, pretty much the same thing that’s theorized over and over again. Infinity destroyed or crippled, Flood returning, returning to Reach and so on. I’m ok with the Flood returning, as long as it isn’t for the sake of fan service. Yes it’s cool, but even then, the inclusion of the Arbiter in Halo 5’s story wasn’t well received, because it didn’t mean anything in the story the game’s trying to tell.
As for the Infinity being destroyed, I see that as unnecessary. I love this ship a lot, and seeing pretty much everyone wishing to have it destroyed just fills me with grief, mostly because it’s seen as a “plot device”, despite such thing only really happening in the last mission of Halo 4 (regarding games only), and with the Guardians on the mix, the Infinity’s pretty limited in what it can do.
As for Reach, I’ve already explained myself. Glassed planet with no purpose.
