Okay i got to diamond 5 on slayer before the new playlist came out. I would like to get back there again and even try to achieve onyx. Does anybody know how csr works in the first ten placement matches? Like for example if i win 8 out of 10 what will i be ranked? What if i win 10 out of 10?
You might rank higher but there are also a lot of other factors that go into determining your rank and we don’t know what those numbers are.
Depends on alot more than number of wins unfortunately. Just play well and help your team get wins. There isn’t much information on how CSR works exactly other than wins help and losses hurt your rank. If I had to make a guess, K/D, how much you win by, how much of a team player you are (assist, no betrayals etc), and Shot accuracy, shots landed, how much you played the objective (captured flags, defended flags etc) are all part of the process.

I’ve heard others saying that any subsequent season’s csr is affected by your previous rankings.

wins makes the biggest factor, but you performance also makes a big factor.
played with 3 friends. we got 7/10 in swat and i got diamond while my friends got platinum.
hindsight we went 8/10 breakout one friend got onyx cause he did so well and because i basicly sucked i was in platinum

Don’t feel bad, Season 1 I got Onyx in SWAT, Season 2 I had more wins. Diamond. This season 7-10 Platinum. I’m really starting to question this system

I’ve argued this in the past. The reality is: nobody knows. However, throwing away perfectly good data just to restart all over from zero would be insane. The problem with saying anything about CSR is that 343i have been very tight lipped about its inner workings. However, if it’s TrueSkill based as the rumor goes, then the interesting thing about it is that there are two variables which specify the rating: one is the rating itself, the other is the uncertainty of the rating. In this context, setting the uncertainty to a very high value at the start of every new season while conserving the rating itself is essentially equivalent to resetting the rank, but better because it actually doesn’t throw away the prior estimate of the player’s skill. It essentially just goes: “Okay, let’s see what happens if we assume this doesn’t represent the player’s true skill”. This is also consistent with the observations of “inconsistent” placement matches where two players have played the ten matches together, but end up with different ranks.

I just went thru most of the thread and it cleared a lot of confusion I had about ranking. Good info.
