343 dont make another map pack its just a waste of your time. This new Forge test playlist is great the maps are fun and different i think everyone got tired of playing the matchmaking maps anyway. Now look at the Crimson DLC playlist only about 300 + players or so ive never seen this playlist get higher than 1000 + to be honest. So an idea is that don’t make another Map Pack let the community make the maps for you and add them to matchmaking later on. I know this is the idea with Forge test playlist right now. You could save yourself sometime and work on fixing/adding more features to Halo 4 that should’ve been there at launch.
Features i would like to see in the Future:
343 Favorites. Just like Bungie Favorites who remembers this feature? It was awesome it would get updated frequently and we would have plenty of creative maps to play on in Custom games. Then you had all the different gametypes, screenshots, films to play/watch.
Coop Campaign Search
This was a feature in Halo Reach and in my opinion should of been in Halo 4. The ability to search for a coop campaign game.
So yeah i will update this thread when i think of new idea and such this is just my 2 cents for now.
I don’t go in the Crimson DLC playlist because I play on DLC maps frequently in other playlists, even BTB. That’s why the playlist has a low population.
You’re an idiot if you think you can only play on DLC maps in Crimson DLC.
This isn’t Reach. They fixed the players not having DLC issue.
crimson playlist only have the crimson maps. People that have the map pack can go into infinity slayer and get paired with mappack owners and play those map in the slayer playlist. The only real reason to play on the crimson playlist is to try to get the achievements or stick to those 3 maps only which I doubt more than 1000 map pack owner would want todo :)(see what I did there?)
Too late. With the release of the season pass, they named three maps packs that it would provide players with. By law, they must now follow up on this by releasing said packs, unless they wish for many complaints about false advertising, which would probably force them to refund people wishing such.
I think they shouldn’t make map packs or forge and just give us a map editor, and if 343 wants to make the money that they would get from a map pack just give us new vehicles and new map textures. Because to be honest the custom games are the most entertaining feature of Halo 4 as well as Spartan Ops but the season will end soon.
Actually, I like playing new slayer maps where no one have any advantages and there no camping spots. I only play crimson dlc to get the ridiculous achievement. The warthog achievement is pure luck. Of the crimson dlc I enjoy slayer on all maps but hate the objectives.

Sorry for the above double post, internet is not being cooperative.
I don’t care how imaginative and well made a Forge map is, I still prefer official maps that don’t look like crap. I want to know where the bases are, I want to know where I am, not be lost in a maze of bland squares that are clipping through each other and lagging out my game.
Honestly I hate going into a lobby and getting stuck in a Forge map that I’ve never seen before. You wind up spending the game exploring instead of fighting. Often with undesirable results, keep the Forge maps in the Forge playlist please.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not totally hating of Forge maps because they can be fun but damn they can totally suck too. 343, keep on dumping out decent, aesthetically pleasing maps.
Forge maps are unplayable on splitscreen due to frame rate issues. Same goes to Shatter, which is 1/3 of Crimson, and main reason I avoid playing Crimson playlist (I mostly play splitscreen).
I heard next map pack will contain 2 small maps and 1 medium size, and will be mostly 4v4. If nobody screws anything (like with Shatter, or Forge, or Complex) I will be propably playing a lot of it.
> I thought Certain Affinty made the multiplayer maps.
I messaged CA before the map pack came out and they said they didn’t make Crimson map pack but they may be involved with the next 2 map packs.
OP They are obviously going to release at least 2 more map packs regardless of how you feel about it. Forge maps eventually become an eyesore and ruin the game for me so I hope matchmaking doesn’t become filled with them.

Poster prefers looks rather than smooth solid game-play.
And people wonder why the Gaming Industry is slowly dying.

One problem: Forge maps provide less open field tactics. For example, a veteral player catches eye on a 5x1 block, only seeing a small amount of the actual block, they know the exact distance it is, and what angle to drop a frag at for it to hit the other side clean.
It may sound unusual, but the new looks actually play vital parts in gameplay, it makes each area more unique and memorable, preventing mix-ups with map areas and spawns. More than this, new concepts can be added (look at how Black Ops improved their maps, they added interactive areas, which gave newer maps something none of the others had) which can change gameplay and tactics quickly. Picture a map were a sunburst is emmited every 3 minutes that drops the shields of anyone exposed to it. During that time area, you won’t see people blindly running outside into the burst, they sit back and take flanking routes which provide shelter.

I payed for a full game, not half-baked community remakes that don’t even line up with the maps they’re supposed to be recreating. Don’t try to twist my words around, that “smooth solid gameplay” is hardly a factor when you’re lagging the hell out on a Forge map. It’s detrimental to “smooth solid gameplay” when you can’t even tell where you are because you’re lost in an ill conceived maze of puke colored squares. “Smooth solid gameplay” takes a backseat when the game keeps “generating lighting” every time people quit out of a laggy, confusing forge game.
I’m not going to head over to the theater and pay $10 to see a professionally produced film and then sit in the lobby with random strangers and watch Youtube videos on their iPhone. I would rather play decent maps that play well AND look good. Forge maps sometimes are incapable of doing either.
I like Forge maps, I just prefer to play them on my terms. I don’t want to play SWAT when I load up infinity slayer and I don’t want them to pollute every playlist. Simply keep them restricted to a “community” hopper and leave it at that.
Yes, Forge maps can be good and I enjoy creating and playing them but there’s nothing worse then going into a lobby to vote for a map and having nothing to go on beyond a generic Forge image and a name. “Hmm, that map SOUNDS like it’ll suck less than the others.” I don’t want my matchmaking experience to be overrun with unrecognizable disfigured maps, guess that makes me the bane of the gaming industry.
Sorry for the rant but jeeze, I don’t appreciated being called out for having a blasted opinion.

Thats a bad idea, we need more forge maps in rotation to keep things fresh, especially considering the forge maps are much better than any other maps so far and actually feel like halo.
I get what you mean in some ways, Reach had way too many forge maps, and the greyness of them sucked, but halo 4s launch maps are worse and broken for the most part.
Also the whole point of this forge hopper is to test them before they go into normal rotation, so im afraid they are going in anyway, especially considering the population of forge test was well above other playlists.
