Ok lets see if this'll work

I’ve been thinking of this for about a good 2 weeks now, tossed it because I didn’t think it was going to work but eh, I’ll give it a go. Reach turned Halo into a class based shooter. Halo 4 has continued this. Now before I get flamed, I’m going to ask, is moving away from the Arena based FPS and turning it into a class based FPS like COD and BF the right move for Halo? Was Halo succeeding as an Arena based FPS and is it still continuing that succession now? Population may not mean anything but numbers do tell how much people are playing, and how much people aren’t.

Now before I go any further, I want to ask a question. Can Halo survive with the new formula it’s been introduced to? Can it compete with other games that are going to be released within I’d say, the next 6 years? How much do we want Halo to survive the next 6 years? How much do we want to save it? If we feel 343 isn’t listening here, how else are we going to get their attention? This is what I thought of.

Waypoint Community Podcast and/or livestream

How it will work: Get a group started on Waypoint, first of all. Then each week, host a full lobby on Halo 4 in custom games. (More people’s voice the better) Speak about the current issues in Halo 4 (maturely) and how they can be fixed, then come up with solutions based upon the issues that are discussed that week, then after it’s done link the video on the Halo 4 forum, let people reply obviously and see what they agree on and don’t agree on.

Keep this thread alive. I really want to see if this can work. All of us want Halo to succeed and not die. All of us want to enjoy Halo and not fade away from it because it can’t keep us playing for whatever reason.

Ok, since I cannot find anywhere how to start a group on Waypoint, just reply, I want in, with your GT and I’ll add it to the list.

please also thank if you support this.

Wow already towards the end…come on now

Bottom of page 1 again, I can already tell this isn’t going to work. Mod lock this please.

Count the amount of popular arena shooters on consoles.
Now count the amount of popular class-based shooters on consoles.

What do you think we need more of? Halo was the best at what it did on consoles, hands down. It’s far from the best class-based loadout shooter though.
Stick to what you know, there’s still a demand for arena shooters, Halo 3 and Reach’s blockbuster numbers prove that. Plus, I personally find arena shooters to be better and fairer. That’s just me though.

Your group idea is good, pursue it if you want.

I actually totally agree with this idea. I would not only be a great way for the community to get involved, But also a great way to let a mature players get their voice out there.

100% Agree. Keep this thread alive lads.

Holy hell this thread works!!

> Holy hell this thread works!!

Of course! Such a great idea should not be put down into the pit of silly rants. Such an idea would possibly improve this forums community and perhaps even their maturity.

Um…how would one go about getting a group started on Waypoint? How you do you attempt to to dis ting.

your argument can be flipped around, in that many more people want class-based shooters because it is so popular on consoles

just playing devils advoc though

Halo however has always succeded an an Arena shooter. Reach shows changing it to a class based shooter is not a succession.

Hmmm… My guess would be to obtain about 7 other members firstly. Make sure they are decent folk and no one who is predictable. These members should share the same qualities; Well done arguments, mature thoughts and a burning passion for Halo.

Obviously, one cannot just make this and hope that the whole community will listen. The best way to grab attention is to upload it onto Youtube and then post the link on the forums. This woul;d grab the attention of the forum members and the Youtube crowd and thus gaining the attention of many fans.

That’s how I would attempt such a act anyway.

Can you even start a group on Waypoint? I don’t think you can.

I believe this has at lease some merrit to it. It can work and I am all for gamers discussing games maturely together. Even if this doesnt work as planned we can at least say we tried.

> Can you even start a group on Waypoint? I don’t think you can.

Thats why you don’t start it on Way point. You start it on YouTube and then post the videos URL to the forums. People did it many times when they were doing walk though’s of previous Halo games so I don’t see why people wouldn’t agree to let it be posted. And you can always make some sort of blog or steam group should the videos fail.

Just make it a class-based arena shooter.

1-3 have been simple sci-fi FPS games. Nothing more.

Reach was trying to do like a modern day shooter or like a tactical one. It didn’t work

Halo 4 has tried polishing that turd that was Reach, but ultimately has just smeared it all over.

Halo 3 easily had the best gameplay and maps, that should be the standard of Halo games, not badly copying other people’s ideas and doing a terrible job of it.

If you get a group started, I would want in, but don’t expect me to show up 100% of the time.

This is still an Arena based shooter. The classes are not nearly as definitive or crazy different then that of COD.

Implying 343i is going to list to a podcast of people on Youtube. This sounds familiar to what The Halo Council did and no one listened.

Then one of them rage quit like a primadonna in another youtube video.

I’m sorry but I don’t think this idea will get their attention.

> Just make it a class-based arena shooter.

mind has been blown

but with an arena shooter, you have a lot of lifts/jumps, faster movement, pick ups (camo, overshield), and weapon spawns. there’s not enough of this in halo 4
