Ok, I've had it with loadouts now.

I’m not kidding when I say this. The online community has absolutely NO VARIETY in customizing their loadouts. All I see is Battle Rifles, DMRs, and Boltshots. There’s no variety anywhere, really. I do see the occasional Assaut Rifle or Carbine, and even more rarely the Suppressor or Storm Rifle, but that’s like once in a blue moon. And do you know why this is? Because of the zero variety in every players loadout choice.

I was playing today and after a day of enjoying some DMR gameplay (not that stupid camping back at the base, staying long distance and being nowhere between 10 feet of anyone, I’m talking about full on assault with it, that’s how you really use a DMR), I went back and used my favorite weapon in the series, the Assault Rifle. It was horrible. Once again, enemy team, all they had was BRs and DMRs. Hell, just swap out the names and have every gametype be Slayer BRs or Slayer DMRs. Halo is now an all precisions game. Using another weapon is almost irrelevant now. At first, I was fine with custom loadouts, but now can we PLEASE go back to the way it should be: starting off on the same foot and working to get your crap?

There, had to get that off my chest. Anyone agree?

Going back to even footing and having to work from there is something ive been wanting for years. Loadouts or so overused now, and i never really liked them to begin with.

Go play the Crysis 3 demo. Then you’ll be moaning. Everyone has camo and can spawn with a flipping shotgun in a loadout. Yeah good times. I wish for the arena shooter to return someday.

Halo has always been an all percisions game. Go play Halo 1 only using the AR or Halo 2 using the SMG and see how well you do against percision weapons.

Yea, i tried it and i was like great another one of these shooters. I cant wait for the cod trend to die and we can see some variation in our shooters again. And maybe just maybe arena will make a come back… One can hope.

Yep. I’ll pick it up for the campaign but the MP can take a flying leap. This is where Halo 4 missed the mark to be different,(I hope people are getting burned out on Child Online Daycare) and buck the trend(s) in FPS at the moment.

If it makes you feel any better I always use a Storm Rifle/Magnum combo.

> If it makes you feel any better I always use a Storm Rifle/Magnum combo.

Ha, yeah. I’m a big Assault Rifle fan, but I like the Storm Rifle as well.

That’s because Halo’s weapon sandbox isn’t set up for Loadouts. The DMR and BR and the best weapons so there’s no reason to choose something else. If everyone started with an AR and had to pick up precision weapons (cough like Halo has always been cough), then it would be better.

I don’t know about you guys, but im enjoying my custom loadouts. Since CE, i am was and still tired of starting out with either the AR. However, in Reach, i can deal with the DMR. I need precision. With the custom loadouts, made my life much easier.

I also use the AR i only use DMR if im out of ammo or I dont have a team to distract the enemy while i move in.

That’s the point. It makes this game too easy. Halo used to test a person’s skill in the game. You started off with the same weapons and if you wanted precision weapons you had to work to get them. Now you don’t have to, making those who like starting with the AR, like myself, struggle.

Go play classic slayer in custom games, its the point you want and you have certain more then enough friends…You’ll still earn credit, so there is no point in complaining.

Look for it now in file-share search…

& Above all, someone suggest it in War Games saying Classic SLayer, with a list of what you want and don’t want & if everyone wants it enough, a playlist will happen. Simple & fixed.

I actually see an excellent amount of weapon variation in every game I play. My go-to loadout even has a carbine, with which I defy the “DMR is op” people by taking down everyone I come across quite easily.

It’s one reason I tend to not put much credit in the “This weapon is op” stuff. In actual gameplay, it really doesn’t matter much.

What is this obsession with variety anyway? I honestly couldn’t care what weapon someone kills me with.

Load outs mean I don’t have run around with the AR all the time.

Erm, what?

It makes the game too easy for everyone apart from you? The people who are more skilled struggle?

What I’m trying to say is that with custom loadouts, everyone chooses the easy way out, DMR and BR. I’m not necessarily saying what you’re implying.

Look, long story short is that Halo should go back to its roots: starting off with the same footing every game and work to get a Battle Rifle or DMR. If you don’t like using the Assault Rifle, use the Magnum secondary. Easy as that. Everyone nowadays has the mindset of not wanting to work to get the goods that can turn the tables in a match, but that was what Halo was until Halo Reach included loadouts, which I have to say were more reasonable than all these custom loadouts.

Why, so I can spawn and have a weapon that can’t fight back against their entire team that have accumulated DMRs or BRs?

No, everyone starts with Assault Rifles and you, grab a chair before I say this, WORK to get a DMR or BR. Simple. Remember Halo 3? Yeah, that.

Key word here is “accumulated”. If the enemy team can pick up those weapons, then so should you.

And this is where the phrase “adapt or die” really comes into play.

Those who want a challenge play halo. Those who don’t want to work play cod.
