Ok I gotta ask....

So to get ready for Halo 5 I am replaying, like many others, the MCC but given the control scheme change in Halo 5 I am doing so using the Zoom and Shoot control scheme.

Sooo…how do people feel using it? Just curious is all. It throws me off a little but I could get used to it. The zoom behavior is what kinda grates on me…the whole fast tap vs holding which can get the sniper rifles stuck and the fact you cannot change it.

More than likely the final product will give us the option to customize our control scheme so i wouldn’t worry too much about it.

Right…I would hope…was it like that in the beta?

Don’t listen to him, that won’t happen. It wasn’t like that in the beta. Or in any halo game past, present, or near future.

Also, no matter what control scheme you’re used to h5 will have an equivalent. There’s no need to switch.

I used recon in the beta. It works better than the standard for halo 5 imo. Ground pound felt good on the stick, which is a shame because its been moved to melee. I know people want to crouch jump, and I do to, but it should be an option because beta Recon felt amazing.

They are going to have a button mapping app for the Xbox, but I’m not sure if it will work for standard controllers or just the $150 Elite one.

So yeah, Halo isn’t going to offer button mapping, but it will exist in some capacity on the Xbox One by the end of the year.

I’ve never thought of it working for a standard controller… I would wager it’s only good for the elite controller but I’m not sure.

The beta had some scheme controls. I used the halo 4 it was pretty good

Ok how does smart scope compare to using the thumb to zoom in? Do you need it much? Because if it’s no big deal I’ll keep the reclaimed configuration?

I am using the universal reclaimed control scheme in Halo: MCC. Whatever the equivalent to that is, I’m going to use it probably.

SS is the new zoom in. As much as you used zoom in previous Halos, you will use it in h5. The only difference is all guns have it.

Pretty much this. Its just zoom with a new animation and aesthetics. I use Universal Recon in MCC and used Recon in the H5 Beta and there was pretty much no adjustment period for Smart Scope. Its the same thing.

Ok so is Zoom in needed enough to have it mapped on left trigger? Does it work like an ADS on non sniper weapon adding accuracy? How does it effect spread?

I used the Halo 4 control scheme in the beta, since I have been using that scheme for nearly 3 years now and really wouldn’t change it for anything else, it felt seamless to go from 4/MCC to 5 Beta controls and back again.

So hip fire was not affected

Not really (If we have the definition of hip fire by shooting a precision weapon with out scoping in), it really just felt normal like it does in Halo 4/MCC

I feel as if LT to zoom works better in Halo 5 as apposed to TMCC. It has to do with the animations ― the original Halos are very binary whilst zooming, whereas Halo 5 is quite smooth when aiming down the sights…

Then…what is the point of the smart scope being mapped there???

Also is there a way to have the EXACT control scheme from halo 5 on the MCC?

I do recall that the AR did receive a damage bonus for precision damage while in smart scope. I think they made some changes to the bonus over the course of the beta.

Overall I think they mapped it there to make it more like every other shooter on the market. I had to use universal reclaimer because with being descoped when hit it being on the left trigger messed with me too much. Might be something to get used to.
