why should i care about “MLG” drop halo from it circlet?
“Nothing at all! NOTHING AT ALL!” - Ned Flanders
If anything, I’m glad to see this issue resolved one way or the other. This forums has just gotten to whiny, filled with self declared ‘pros’, who think by insulting and calling everyone else who disagrees with them kids, they will somehow convince 343 to give into their demands.
Good riddance.
If anything, everyone should. Not only does it show that Halo is a game capable of being involved in great competitive play, but it also appeals to multiple communities.
The majority of people dislike it for the wrong reasons, some of which are very funny reasons too. (Example: The post above this one)
-Double Post-
If you don’t care, why did you make this thread?
Isn’t Microsoft paired up with -Yoink!- Gaming now?
Really, there isn’t a reason you should care. To be perfectly honest, if MLG actually wanted to keep Halo around, they could have easily said “Hey guys, we are sticking to Halo 3” (or Reach if they wanted)
Fact of the matter is, they didn’t and they don’t.
As far as competitiveness goes, you guys should really read the Matchmaking forum more often.
thank god it’s droped now more people will hopefully focus on haveing fun like it’s surposed to be
Well, whether you like MLG or not, 343 got the message. Link can be found here. I assume other members have brought this up. I’m really glad they decided to do this. At this point, sure we lost MLG, but 343 learned. The entire community should now be pleased. SHOULD, emphasis on SHOULD.
^Indeed.
As for MLG? I’ve never cared for the whole MLG attitude towards titles. I personaly beleive that if its in the game, its fair game. I dont like to be told that I cant use X weapon or Y tactic. That kind of thing gets on my nerves, as without variety it becomes the same cookie cutter crap, over and over, game after game.
I can understand that some items may be a bit to good and I can accept that. But removal to me is not an option. Simple limits on said items usage is sufficient (ie make it a drop/pick-up/reward etc).
So for me Im glad MLG is out. Especially considering to us European gamers it was little more than a joke what with it only active in the US mainland. People can bash -Yoink!- Gaming, (I know I have) but its still better than MLG in that its at least open to everyone who plays the game worldwide.
I’m glad. The competitive community is choking Halo. Halo CE, IMO, was the perfect Halo game. Sure, the weapons weren’t always balanced (coughPISTOLcough) but nobody had ever heard of a precision weapon yet and people still loved it. Now people think that precision weapons are the only weapon someone can use if they want to be real human beings while actual gameplay is dying because every game is turning into “sit back and snipe your opponent from afar!”
Gah. I had to get that out. It’s not a popular opinion to be sure, but it’s mine and it feels good to say it. RAHHHH!
While I’m at it, Halo 2 was my least favorite Halo multiplayer-wise.
In many ways the “long range” combat increase in H4 is due to bad map design. To many long open sight lines in various maps creates a bottlenecking effect, which in turn makes other gamers switch to long range combat to counter the bottlenecking.
Take Ragnarock for example. Far to open, no real cover to speak of and a very spartan layout (pun intended). Tree’s, walls, buildings, hillsides etc are supposed to be combined to create “pockets” when various types of combat sytles are effective. Instead on Rag its caves one side, massive open area the other side and a hill in the middle. It screams DMR/Sniper.
The levels need much more objects, buildings and so on to make them really balanced for all styles of play.
Let’s put it this way.
TF2 is not on the MLG circuit and yet it’s already 10 times more competitive than any Halo game out there.

Lol couldn’t agree more. Back in the old days i loved that thing to bits.
I’m the same, never cared for MLG crap.
I just wish HALO was back to it’s simple killing like in the 1-3 days
Nobody cared about MLG because there wasn’t a need to. Good players had ranked; bad ones and those playing for crazy fun stuff had social.
Reach came, and MLG became the only competitive playlist except arena.
Now we lose Arena AND MLG; All the good players and competitive players WILL be concerned.
All the bad ones will be happy that they won’t be picked on. It’s sad, really. Many of them played since Halo 3 and are mad at being ‘trash talked’, but then if I were to play them, I, a Reach-started player, could usually trash them…
I say good riddance, MLG has had no good value, and are the reason behind the many issues that the Halo community has had.
You sir are wonderful! Couldn’t of said it better myself.
I guess MLG is just another way to advertise the game through tournaments, more people join games after seeing how big the e-sports scene is. Casuals aren’t directly affected, but consider the dropping population, and you’ll eat your own words soon enough.
There’s nothing wrong with competitive playlists, and its not the opposite of having fun. Some people have fun by winning, others have fun crouching in corners with boltshot in active camo. Most of the ppl in this thread are in the second category.
