Hey guys, this is my very first post so I would like to be as straight forward as I can. So this July I will be Inheritor for the 2nd time but yet I have fears of hackers. I have never been hacked before but it’s kinda sad that someone has to fear the fact that they can be easily hit off out of no where on Reach. It really sucks and it wants me to be more of the nice player than the competitive type. I just don’t know anything about this topic. So you guys can talk about how this could could not happen, because lossing a Forerunner and a Inheritor account kinda sucks. Any comments or suggestions will be greatly appreciated! Thanks everyone!

Hackers can hack/infect a matchmaking game to modify your stats, four letter/number player tag, nameplate, commedations, achievements, and/or other things to intentionally trigger the banhammer to permaban you from Reach, which I can see being a worry for somebody who legitimately made it to Inheritor. It is extremely rare to come by, but there are hackers that mod matchmaking lobbies to do this for people that end up playing with them to intentionally try to get those other players banned, which is kind of a big middle finger.
Basically, you join into a party with the hacker, who hacked the lobby. Game starts, and because you joined the hacked lobby and did not leave before the game started, some aspect of your Reach game stats or profile gets changed, and then a game or two later, you get booted from matchmaking, with a message stating your profile and/or console was permabanned from Halo: Reach, due to the banhammer detecting the change.
Well see that’s crazy! I wish the entire hacking base that we have access to today would be obolished. It’s all useless and it takes the fun out of the game itself. Although I do appreciate your replies guys!

Just as a safety until you get to Inheritor, you could playing a bunch of Firefight to get to the rank, that’s at least how I did it. As for if you get in a game with a hacker or group of hackers, get out of the lobby ASAP. If you do stay in matchmaking however, as a heads up, stay out of Grifball, many hackers like to stay in that playlist, along with boosters.

ive been playing since 2010, I top my teams leaderboard often and i’ve never had problems with hackers

Haha no but I made it sound that way. My first account was a forerunner and I was like 11 and stupid and I gave it to inheritor to rank it up and he changed the password and deleted it. My inheritor account I was bored on it because I was without gold for over a year so I sold the Xbox and I forgot the email and everything on it.
I last played Reach’s online a year and a half ago, I didn’t see any hackers, how long have they been in the game for?
Are they common are very rare?

They are extremely rare to come by, though from what I can tell, most of people’s encounters with modders in matchmaking seem to happen in Team Snipers and BTB, so stay away from those two matchmaking gametypes if you really are concerned.

You Know other than the fact that this is by far the best game I have ever played in my entire life, it is the only game I have such a fear of. Like I said earlier, I want to be competitive, play fair but use my team to a advantage and I want to have a sense of goal to increase my k/d but the problem is that people will and have to power to report me anytime they want and that bothers me. Like if your too skilled in a certain game type, other playing might report that you are cheating to your best advantage but in all its just so annoying. I want to have fun but it’s hard to have fun when I am constantly protecting my soon inheritor account from players. I spent well over 280 days of playing time in this game since it came out and I don’t like the fact that it can all be taken away from even Microsoft themselves due to other players getting mad and reporting you.
Inheritor for the 2nd time? If you were hacked before & don’t have the knowledge of calling xbox & creating an investigation for getting your account back then you shouldn’t be playing with other players. Your suspicious because you fear of getting hacked because your doing something you shouldn’t be doing therefore you have something to lose. If you got hacked then you did something to deserve it I’ve been playing reach since day 1 & never got hacked after the countless threats i got not one of the hackers cared enough to hack me so yeah your just trying to cover up your wrong doings it’s obvious you pissed someone off & it wasn’t just through playing a game.
