Let me start off by saying that I’m sure this topic has been mentioned before, but it just goes to show how important it is to discuss.
Quick question: What made the previous Halo games so memorable? The graphics, the music, arena matchmaking playlists? All are accurate answers, but the one that really makes people come back is matchmaking. 343 already dropped the ball by screwing up the ranking system, so there’s that, but the one thing that they can fix is to add in certain permanent playlists (and not for a random holiday weekend).
The title of this post definitely gives it away, but adding in Doubles would be a very smart move on 343’s part. Who doesn’t remember matching up in Halo 3 for doubles? The maps were perfect for this in Halo 3. The current map sizes that are available in Halo 5 can definitely house arena games for Doubles. Along with this gametype, they need to add Snipers too (but that’s a post for another time).
I know that it’s still “too early” to prematurely add in gametypes that everyone loves and will play for hours and hours on end, but it would be a great addition to Arena matchmaking and increase the longevity of Halo 5’s lifespan.
What are everyone’s thoughts on having Doubles brought back into our lives? What changes or tweaks would you make, if any, to the gametype if it was to be readers in permanently?
I’m fine with this type of thread showing up every day cause double team needs to happen. I don’t think the Arena gameplay or weapon placement needs any adjusting. Just add the damn playlist. The kinks can get sorted out later, but if we can’t play it we can’t give feedback on it.
I agree! Totally wish they’d add team doubles permanently.
Definitely needs to happen. I would play the crap out of it. lol. Clearly it isn’t high on their priority list, but I have faith that it will show up in time.
Snipers/Doubles are no brainer permanent playlists. My buddy quit playing 2 months ago, he hopped on Sunday and nothing has changed other than a Super Duper Fiesta weekend playlist. It’s a joke.

Ditto. There really isn’t any foreseeable reason why 343 haven’t added it permanently. If there were to be kinks ,yes we could provide feedback, but they couldn’t even be that bad anyway. It’s just cutting an arena game down by 50% the balancing should be the same.
