Should I buy the original version of Halo 3 for the Xbox 360? I have an Xbox One and Halo: The Master Chief Collection but people keep saying that Halo 3 in MCC has a bad hit-register or something. I also want to be the last person on the original servers.
If you want to be the last person on the original servers, then you should definitely get the OG Halo 3. Plus it’s enhanced for One X, so you can play with cleaner graphics. They won’t look as good as what you have on MCC, but the enhanced graphics for the 360 version still look good.
As it stands, H3 on MCC works pretty well. I have read there are still a few issues with hit registration, but for me it seems like they have all been resolved since last year. You also have a very consistent population for anything you play, something that can’t be said for 360 H3.

I decided to buy Halo 3: Mythic (the multiplayer disc that came with ODST) from eBay for the same reason you have. I own MCC, but I wanted to see what it was like to play Halo back in the good old days. If you want a used version, you can find one on there for around $6. I’d also suggest looking in local thrift stores or Goodwills since you can find older Halo games there for cheap. I would say you should buy it, we already know the game is fantastic from MCC. It might be hard to adjust to 30 FPS though!
If you are looking for a new game then look into the Halo 3: ODST and Forza Motorsport 3 bundle on eBay. The game comes with ODST, Halo 3: Mythic, and Forza 3 (if you are a racing game fan) and are all back compat. Plus, this is cheaper than regular ODST and it’s a better deal for under $15 new. Also, make sure you have the right region code for the game, whether that’s NTSC or PAL.
