So after my game finally downloaded I tried to play and in the bottom right it says offline. I have tried quitting the game, soft reset, hard reset, and resetting my router. All other online services for my xbox work including other games and apps. Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated
I am having this same issue. Any advice would be helpful.
Same issue with me. Multiplayer isn’t even an option, the menu says I’m “offline”. I’d tried the hard reset and restarting my router. My internet’s fine and I can play other online games on my Xbox One just fine.

Same here, I can’t do anything except solo campaign and it says I’m offline. I haven’t gotten any notifications about the day one update or anything else.
Same here. Looked into fixes but have been unsuccessful. Thought maybe I didn’t 'get the patch but my install is sitting at 54.8GB and that is what it was expected to be AFTER the 9GB patch, so I think I should be good to go? Hopefully someone gets back to us soon?
Has anyone tried changing their DNS settings?
This is a long shot but a few years ago I had a similar problem with a different game on the 360 called Final Fantasy 11 online. I just couldn’t connect to the servers.
The fix was to change the DNS settings in the console.
So try that. It is worth a try and if it doesn’t work can be easily reversed.
Go to the settings app in the xbox one dashboard then the networks settings. Find the advanced settings then change the DNS to manual
Then try googleDNS.
For the primary try 8.8.8.8
For the secondary 8.8.4.4
press B to save then do a connection test.
After the connection test restart the console.
Then try Halo again just to see if it works.
This is a long shot though and may or may not work but it’s worth a try and you can always switch the DNS back to automatic if it doesn’t work.
SOLVED FOR ME
I can’t believe I didn’t realize it sooner. Recently I was at a hotel, and to connect to the wifi, I changed my MAC address on my xbox to the one on my kindle. As soon as I went back in and undid this, it prompted me to reset the console. Upon restarting and going to Halo 5, it worked properly.
Pretty much:
Settings > Network > Advanced Settings > (for me) Alternate Mac address and reset it to default
Yup, worked for me, thanks! Had my X1 with me on a work trip and did the MAC address thing as well, setting it up with default did the trick. Played multiplayer just fine.
It looks like your issue has been resolved. If you have any other issues, please feel free to create another support thread!
