Hi everyone! This is my first post on Halo Waypoint, and I just wanted to flag something that’s been annoying me for ages since picking up a copy of Reach for my Xbox One.
Basically, as the thread title states, I’ve encountered a problem with Halo Reach whereby campaign progress is not saved when playing offline.
To provide some context: I’m one of those Xbox owners who prefers not to connect their console to the internet unless I really have to, for updates or backwards compatibility downloads. I’m not somebody who plays multiplayer games - I just enjoy Halo for the story and single player campaigns.
My copy of the game is on a physical disc. My Xbox is an Xbox One S, and my user profile is set up for instant sign in. So, in theory, this is the profile Halo: Reach should be recognising and using when I play the campaign. However, it appears to only recognise it as a temporary profile.
I’ve already spoken with Xbox support about this issue, but despite the member of staff’s sincere efforts to help, we couldn’t get to the bottom of it. It seems to me that this ISN’T a case of user error. I believe some other folks have encountered the same issue. If I connect the console to the net and play the campaign, I can save progress and resume from where I left of PROVIDED I’m still online. But I’m absolutely unable to resume from where I left off if I restart the game or attempt to play it offline.
This is extremely frustrating and annoying, as Reach is a major part of the Halo franchise in my opinion. It wasn’t a requirement when playing it on the Xbox360 to log in online just to save campaign progress. So it seems to me that either I’m missing something, and there may be some hidden setting on my Xbox One that’s causing the problem, or a fix that I’m not aware of… or maybe Reach is just broken on Xbox One?
I really hope this is something that can eventually be fixed, as the campaign in this game is something I’d like to be able to enjoy again on my newer console without taking it online.
