Offline progression in Reach

I created a similar topic in the Reach page but this area seems more appropriate.

I got Halo: Reach for Christmas and so far absolutely love it. I’ve gone through the campaign on normal and I am currently working on Heroic.

My problem is my home internet can’t support Xbox Live so when I visit my dad, I bring my 360 for updates. This time I updated Reach and was a bit shocked and some what put off by the fact that my cR/rank progression is now heavily dependent on Xbox Live.

Before updating the system I made roughly 500-700 cR per mission and 600-1600 cR in Firefight.

I tried removing the update via a system maintenance and that was a no go, the X-X-LB-RB-X-X code no longer works and the maintenance button didn’t seem to change anything.

The thing that really gets me is this quote I found on GameFAQs

"It’s most likely because you have an Xbox Live account and your friend doesn’t. According to the system in Reach, those with Xbox Live who have downloaded something from Bungie or otherwise accessed Halo Reach online in some way get limited credits offline to discourage online matchmaking players from boosting offline. Strictly offline players are rewarded significantly more points for offline games because they aren’t able to rack them up online (playing online gets you more cR overall).

If your friend gets a huge number of credits and THEN gets a Live account and plays online, his total credits will be cut down to around 26,000 and he will lose whatever armor he had."

I would love to be able to progress offline again seeing as how I can only visit my dad once every few months, which means I have months between the times I can progress my spartan.

BTW I’m a Silver so I can’t access multiplayer.
