Has offline play been confirmed? The reason I’m wondering this is because this week we’ve seen Xbox LIVE go down a few times. Currently, my console is set to “Go Offline” just so I can sign in and play some campaign. Not all Xbox One games can do this. So I’m wondering, will Halo 5’s campaign require internet to play it solo?
I highly doubt that, Mr Champagne. That would be disastrous considering all the service issues XBL has.
From what I recall, no. You can do solo Campaign without internet.
I’m honestly not sure. At the Halo 5 announcement during E3 2013, Bonnie Ross stated that Halo 5 will incorporate “cloud processing” technologies to enhance the experience, which from what I understand about the technology, would require internet connectivity. I frankly haven’t read anything further about this since then.

It’s better than Mr. Wine Cooler
I would wager no offline play. That’s my guess.
No split screen is going to make those offline days very hard. Internet services go down or the halo 5 network or the xbox network go down. Very bad days can be seen in the future.
I haven’t heard anything about H5 being always online, but if it is, that’s a deal-breaker just out of principle. It’s a freakin’ console game. One of the benefits of developing for a console is that piracy is much, much harder to pull off and therefore being always online is redundant. There is absolutely no reason it needs to be, and therefore absolutely no reason it should be.
