I see your point, but those were NPCs, not bots. Nevertheless, you’re right - anything is possible.
Regardless, it’s possible.
OK, Halo 4 and Halo 2 Anniversary multiplayer use the same iteration of the Blam engine used in Halo Reach, so that’s three games down, three to go.
Yeah, I can definitely foresee mods. Just wouldn’t want Xbox to get left behind, so it’d be nice to see something official.
Granted obviously more resources than the apparent small team keeping up MCC updates, but it’d be a really nice step towards preservation.
It’s wishful thinking to assume the implementation for bots would be exactly the same for the 3 most complicated entries in the collection.
I’m not sure how it would work for every Halo game, but I saw a mod that demonstrated how it would work in Reach.

It would be nice to have a bot playlist for the MCC match composer. I’m sure the xp/sp payouts could be tweaked if balancing was a concern.
I get 100 ms on Halo on a good day so I would be thrilled by this specially since I would get to play less populated maps and all achievements would be obtainable.
not likey. They’ve just taken the ability on xbox to play Halo offline bots while reinstating offline campaign. Just can’t work 343 out. You have to be online if you are start the mode
The oddest thing to begin with really was that I could play offline bots because they’ve never bowed to these requests regarding even implementing them but to make them offline too, wow what an initial surprise that was. Not now though as they’ve removed custom offline altogether on xbox lol. That likey means Forge too of course meaning we will potentially eventually lose our creations
Just another case of them giving something but taking something back
Precisely. That’s why the modding community needs to collaborate with 343 to make the bots official.
Yeah, and some of the point of offline bots is lost when considering the fact that it’d be in an update and not on disc. I saw someone say it’d be cool to see them rerelease MCC physical copies with ODST and Reach added. Though that’d likely be very far fetched for them to do.
Overall more offline features would be awesome. Helpful to MCC’s whole image as an ultimate legacy collection.
They need to do that too! Maybe they can do that for the Series X and PC.
I would prefer the possibility to join ingoing matches in social games, instead of bots.
At least my main thing about bots is that they’d make large matches playable after official servers shutdown one day.
Join mid-match doesn’t do much if matchmaking no longer works at all.
I agree with you on introducing bots, and preservation of the game’s legacy. Unfortunately, it might be complicated to get it to work for all of the titles, and if it were to be introduced it would perhaps suffice to maybe opt for a single game, if any. This response is fair, but we are clear that 343 uses bots themselves, and they haven’t completely dispelled the possibility of it’s implementation entirely, so I guess there’s that.
Someone linked a thread that covers the above point, but they also echo other poor excuses against having bots. Firstly arguing that bots weren’t in the original title which is entirely irrelevant. That doesn’t serve as justification to not have them, there are plenty of great things that we have now which weren’t present in the original title.
Secondly appealing to LAN, again irrelevant because that’s constitutive of a net of people that can play, but it rules out single individuals who don’t have those relations. Bots appeal to all independent of relations.
Thirdly, Infinite offline bots are a problem of the devs, not the mode itself. I don’t know why that was posited as an objection.
Bots are an essential feature for preservation. You retain the core multiplayer experience independent of others, and no matter the fact that the population has gone or that servers are out, you can still play and have fun for the original multiplayer experience (assuming devs actually did the work right). It’s a no-brainer because it’s built into the concept of offline bot support that preservation is maintained, so to argue against it’s essential status for preservation is dubious.
